BetVictor Review

Named after its founder, Victor Chandler, BetVictor is an old track-side bookmaker that was founded many decades ago. Whilst some of its former competitors remained trackside, dealing direct with customers, avoiding the online age and facing extinction as a result, BetVictor has gone with the flow and is a modern gambling brand that rivals the biggest and the best.

As we shall discover, BetVictor also offers something that many of its competitors don’t, something that is of big importance to us and to all our readers, because BetVictor is currently one of the few long-running bookmakers to take bets on esports.

Pros and Cons

  • Simple layout
  • Great bonuses
  • Established brand
  • Niche betting markets
  • Slick interface
  • Limited esport markets
  • Limited promotions

Betting Options

BetVictor doesn’t have the widest range of esports, and these aren’t always available either. However, they do exist, and if your interest is with the biggest games and the biggest events, then you shouldn’t have an issue finding what you’re looking for here. The markets are not extensive on these events, with a focus on outright bets as opposed to prop bets and match bets, but that’s usually where all of the action is anyway. These markets also seem to be growing, as it seems is the case everywhere, because as esports become more popular and generate more interest, then more bookmakers will look to generate more cash from them.

It’s not just esports either, because on BetVictor you can bet on a number of other markets that are not always available on other sites. These include outright bets on the winner of the MAN Booker Prize and the winner of talent shows such as The X Factor. You can bet on politics as well, choosing your front runner for the UK and US elections, as well as the party elections that generate a lot of excitement in the run-up to the main event. BetVictor also offers markets on live poker, focusing on the World Series of Poker Main Event, but with other events popping up on occasion as well.

Customer Service

We like to test the customer support of all the sites we use, and going into this one we had some reservations. After all, you only need to visit BetVictor’s social media page to see that many players have had issues with slow responses or poor communication. We expected the worse, but that wasn’t what we got. The service we received was prompt and very helpful, and even when we persisted, essentially nagging the customer support staff (and also ensuring we dealt with as many individuals as possible) we encountered nothing that we wouldn’t expect from such an established brand.

Deposits and Withdrawals

BetVictor accept everything from Skrill and PayPal, to bank transfers, credit cards, debit cards and eChecks. Some of these options are limited to certain countries, but things like debit cards and PayPal are universal. All withdrawals are processed relatively quickly, but as with all sites, there are occasional security checks run, so don’t be alarmed if they halt your withdrawal and ask you to verify your identity. This is standard procedure and is in place to prevent fraud, not just to annoy you — even if it feels like it.

Bonuses and Promotions

You can usually find a 100% matched bonus on BetVictor, which you can pickup after your first deposit. The maximum on this bonus is often only around £25, and on occasion it is even less than that. Typically, this bonus will not be released when you deposit and requires you to make a bet in order to trigger it. In such cases, always make sure you bet the amount that you want to receive as a free bet. For instance, three bets of £5 might total £15, but because only your first bet counts, you’ll only get a bonus of £5. However, if you bet £15 in one bet (on odds of more than Evens) then you would get £15.

There are other promotions on BetVictor as well, but these are transient in nature and when they do appear, they usually cater for casual players and small stakers, just like the new member bonus.

Conclusion

We have always viewed BetVictor with a certain degree of curiosity. Personally, we have had no issues with this site. It isn’t as big and doesn’t offer as much as many others, but in that sense it can be viewed as a smaller, quieter cousin, one we don’t see very often but one whose company we still enjoy. However, there are many customers who have reported issues with this site. These range from poor customer service to buggy software, but we haven’t been able to replicate any of these issues ourselves. We can’t be alone in that either, because BetVictor is one of the biggest names in the industry and has been going strong for more than 60 years. Surely that wouldn’t be the case if everything that every reviewer said was true.

There are many more reviewers like us of course, people who have nothing but good things to say. Yes, BetVictor could use a bit of expansion. Yes, it needs more markets, bigger bonuses and greater variety. But as things stand, this is still a very useful site and one we recommend.
