Team Vitality vs exceL

This is where things get a lot more interesting. Vitality taking on EXCEL Esports might not sound all that enticing, but that changes instantly once you factor in just how clean and commanding EXCEL have been lately. They're still a severely limited team in terms of long term potential *and* overall talent, but we'd be remiss if we didn't say that they've grown a ton since their first outing.

Their emphatic win over Fnatic serves as proof. It wasn't just a random, one-off thing either: they beat the brakes off the former "kings" and had made it look surprisingly easy, too. That was not the EXCEL we've all become accustomed to, but rather a capable, surging, and in-sync playoff contender -- a team that has all the tools which are necessary for trading blows with the who's who of the LEC.

They're still a gatekeeper, but they can now at least put up a fight and upend everyone's expectations. And that, in short, is a small miracle given just how dreadful they've been over the last couple of years. So even though they're still mighty flawed, they've at the very least made everyone take notice. And this surge of theirs has come at the best possible moment: with just nine games left to be played, they have *just* enough time to conjure up a game plan and mount an offensive. We still don't think they'll make the cut, but at least they have shot.

Vitality, on the other hand, have been both hot and cold, depending on the week, their strength of schedule and, well, level of motivation. They're playing on auto-pilot more often than not, and we can't really blame them: they yearn for the biggest of challenges, and those are seldom found in a region as top heavy as the LEC. So don't be overly surprised when they struggle against a bottom-dweller or when they fumble with the most basic things: they don't care much if they drop a few games on their way to the playoffs and would much rather have fun throughout the journey than compete for any kind of awe-inspiring record or praise.

They know their worth and have nothing to prove after years of absolute dominance. They are, however, well aware that EXCEL are not to be trifled with, so they'll surely put their best foot forward and look to make a statement.
