Team SoloMid vs 100 Thieves

What an absolute spectacle to start off the week! Team SoloMid vs. 100 Thieves is bound to deliver in all the right ways so if you've got the time, make sure to tune in! We have a shoo-in for the LCS finals on the one side (TSM), and a well-rounded contender that may or may not have what it takes to reach Top 3 (100T).

All in all, this match-up has "fireworks" written all over it, and is pretty much an absolute must watch! Team SoloMid are favored, and it's easy to understand why. They looked quite incredible throughout the first week of play and have taken sole possession of first place -- a very respectable feat given whom they had to compete with.

100 Thieves, on the other hand, were both hot and cold. Their first game (the one against Immortals) left a lot to be desired (to say the least), but they were quickly able to bounce back and outclass both Cloud9 and Dignitas. Their games were, however, a bit strange. The fact that they put Felix "Abbedagge" Braun on Karma duty for three games in a row isn't something you would ever expect given his immense prowess on a slew of other picks (primarily control mages). Now, he played a couple of fantastic games, but we still thought 100 Thieves would give him a bit more agency.

Then again, perhaps this really is the best way to go about it. Abbedagge still needs a bit of time to synergize with his new teammates, and giving him a champion that is more utility-focused does relieve a bit of the pressure. In any case, by the end of the week, 100 Thieves looked quite formidable which was a highly welcome sight. We all know they're stacked from to head to toe and have all the right tools to compete at the highest of levels; the fact that they imploded so darn hard back in Spring left no one indifferent -- we're talking about a twist that made no sense whatsoever. With Reapered aboard, however, they've been looking a lot more cohesive with a couple of surprisingly streamlined drafts. Whether they'll be able to maintain this respectable pace still remains to be seen, but they're not to be trifled with, that's for sure!

That said, Team SoloMid seem to be a cut above. They've finally "clicked" as a five-man unit and it shows in their play, too. They're at ease with each other and if they keep this up they'll no doubt become the front-runners to win the whole split. Cloud9 seem to be struggling without Zven (far from a surprise), and Team Liquid has it even worse. Meanwhile, the boys in white and black are cruising by with their eyes set on the LCS throne.

We'll side with Team SoloMid on this one as they're a bit more dangerous and cohesive at this point in time. Whether that'll result in a win still remains to be seen, but the odds are definitely on their side.
