Team Liquid vs FlyQuest

Team Liquid taking on FlyQuest doesn't really get the blood pumping. That's what happens when one half of the match-up is a team that is currently riding a nine-game losing streak. Let that one sink in. Counter Logic Gaming, for comparison, have been downright dreadful, and yet they've "only" lost six games in a row. The last time FlyQuest got their hands raised was all the way back in June 12th and, frankly, they haven't improved much from that point onwards. Heck, they haven't improved at all, if their recent games are anything to go by.

Team Liquid, on the other hand, are still a top-tier competitor and a shoo-in for the playoffs. They're not as dangerous as they were back in Spring, but they're still more than capable enough to compete with the creme de la creme. Still, they haven't been all that successful lately. With a 7W-7L record, they're not exactly primed and ready to challenge for the LCS throne, and their last three losses definitely paint a worrying picture. Will they improve? Absolutely, but they probably won't be able to compete with 100 Thieves, Cloud9, and Team SoloMid which means they're going to miss out on Worlds — a bona fide travesty given just how much money they've invested into their 2021 line-up.

Fortunately, FlyQuest (being one of the worst teams in the LCS) are definitely an easy test for the four-time LCS champions. And, frankly, that's exactly what they need — an easy game to regain their confidence after dropping the ball and imploding beyond measure. It might not come easy, but TL should definitely be able to emerge victorious and finish the week off with a much-needed "W."

As for FlyQuest, they should pretty much start focusing on 2022. The ship has sailed and there's nothing left to fight for. This might be an overly harsh way to say it, but it is by no means incorrect. What happened behind the scenes and why they've been unable to mount an offensive — despite having all the right tools for the job — is a topic for another time and place. Right now, they don't have much of a chance. A couple of brilliant moments (and we really do mean "a couple") are by no means enough to warrant a spot higher up the standings. They're a bottom-dweller and that won't change any time soon.
