SK Gaming vs G2 Esports

On paper, there's not a whole lot to like here. In actuality, however, that couldn't be further from the truth! G2 Esports vs. SK Gaming is neither a clash of titans nor a fight that'll go down in the history books. That, however, doesn't mean there's no reason to tune in -- quite the contrary!

Both teams have looked pretty stellar last week (relative to our pre-season expectations) and we can't wait for them to once against spawn on the Rift and show us what they've been working on. We're all leaning towards G2, of course, but if SK's win over MAD has told us anything, it is the fact that they're not only willing to challenge the LEC pantheon but that they have the tools to upset as well. They're not to be trifled with, is all, and have some very capable players under their banner. They're still flawed, out of sync, and at times prone to making egregious mistakes, but they're nonetheless amongst the feistiest teams in the LEC and have shown a ton of grit thus far. They're the quintessential gatekeeper and have doubled down on their narrative in hopes of it making a difference.

We don't think it will, but they'll nonetheless give all of their opponents a run for their money and could, by all means, pull off a few upsets going forward.

G2 Esports, on the other hand, have looked about as great as we had expected -- doubly so if you factor in that their entire team had to play through COVID-19. Not the best of circumstances, you'll probably agree, but they found a way to win regardless and deserve to be praised for it. They, too, were far from perfect, but we'll let it slide for the time being -- they had their fair share of standout moments, and that's more than enough at this early point of the season. With time, they'll surely become ever more dangerous and cohesive, and if they stay the course they'll no doubt be able to contest for a spot near the very top of the standings.

In the meantime, they'll probably struggle against the most unsuspecting of challengers, and that includes SK Gaming as well. They'll win more often than not, make no mistake, but it probably won't be as clean or commanding as we've come to expect from them.

They're better across the board than SK, and are surely looking to make a statement and improve to 3W-1L. It won't come easy, but they should definitely be able to get the win.
