Golden Guardians vs FlyQuest

Finally, to close out the first week of the second ever LCS Lock-In tournament, we have FlyQuest taking on the Golden Guardians. Not exactly a hype-inducing clash of titans, but it could, potentially, end up being ever so slightly more competitive than the odds would lead you to believe ("could" being the operative word here).

FlyQuest didn't just bounce back in style today -- they did so by taking down none other than 100 Thieves. And it wasn't a fluke, either; they were just the better team on the day with a better draft and a more clear idea on what needed to be done in game so as to stand the highest possible chance of getting the win. They looked great, in all fairness, and the fact that they were able to bounce back in such tremendous fashion after getting smacked around yesterday is a testament to their resilience and mental fortitude. So credit where credit is due. They're not a world-beater nor will they be challenging for the LCS throne, but they're obviously capable (when the star align) and are not to be trifled with.

And now they'll face what can only be described as the weakest team in the tournament: the Golden Guardians. Granted, they'll be facing GGS' Academy line-up, but the point stands nonetheless. This is arguably the "easiest" win they can get, and they know it, too. Beating them would also net FlyQuest a .500 record which, given their horrendous start, would be quite a commendable feat. Nothing overly spectacular, but a step in the right direction nonetheless.

There's really not a whole lot to talk about here, but we'd be remiss if we didn't close off with a word of caution: FlyQuest are obviously volatile beyond measure. They'll either look downright phenomenal or implode trying -- there's no other option in between. And, frankly, it could've been worse; at least they encompass both ends of the performance spectrum.

In any case, they're better than the Golden Guardians and should, by all means, be able to prove it, too. Then again, they're so darn inconsistent and volatile that it might be best to just skip this match entirely.
