G2 Esports vs Royal Never Give Up

With G2 taking down T1 — in fairly impressive fashion, no less — we've decided to fully and unreservedly board the hype train! It might come back to bite us, granted, but it's well worth the risk given what the oddsmakers have to say about it.

G2's opening game against the LCK champions was by no means perfect, but it *was* a win, and it came by way of stellar macro and great decision-making (to say nothing of their spectacular teamfighting). It was an indication of their strength and overall potential and, needless to say, we're all excited to see how high these idiosyncratic Europeans will be able to soar once everything is said and done.

Now, let's get one thing straight: they'll probably *lose* to Royal Never Give Up, but betting on the underdogs on this one could still prove to be worth our while. It's a risk, there's no doubt about it, but G2 have a much better shot at pulling it off than we initially thought, so we might as well "take a gamble" seeing how we stand so much to gain.

Royal Never Give Up made few (if any) mistakes against Evil Geniuses, and their particular style of play will surely prove most effective against the LEC champions. The way in which they set up objectives and the brilliance with which they teamfight are second-to-none. They're on a whole nother level, and G2, while certainly crafty and agile, probably won't be able to keep up. Then again, we thought the same for their game against T1 and we all know that turned out. We're not quite sure what'll happen. RNG are favored for a very good reason, but G2 are also playing with an incredible amount of bravado and confidence which, by the looks of it, seems to have given them an edge over their more venerable peers.

They already solved the T1 "puzzle." They could've easily lost that game, too, but they *didn't* and that's the only thing that actually matters. If they can find a way to handle Royal Never Give Up as well, they'll no doubt transmute into the biggest favorite to win this year's Mid-Season Invitational. And that, if it happens, would be truly astounding given what everyone thought and expected coming into the first international tournament of the year. G2 deserve a metric ton of respect and, needless to say, we can't wait to see how well they'll fare against the reigning MSI "kings."
