FlyQuest vs Cloud9

Last but certainly not least, we have Cloud9 taking on FlyQuest. On paper, this is quite an exciting match-up although, in all fairness, it does leave a bit to be desired. The defending LCS champions don't have a whole lot of hype coming into the second week of play and, frankly, there's a good reason why. They've been fairly mediocre throughout the first three games of the split and have done next to nothing worthy of praise and commendation. Their win over Liquid was solid, no doubt, but that doesn't go for much these days seeing how TL are playing without their spectacular top laner.

All in all, it wasn't as good a showing as you'd expect from a team of Cloud9's caliber. Still, there is a logical explanation: they had the least time to recuperate and adjust to the current meta. Is it a good enough excuse, though? On the one hand: absolutely. On the other: they should've still been cohesive and competent enough not to drop a game to the Golden Guardians. Now, make no mistake: Cloud9 are still amongst the best teams in the LCS, but they'll need a bit of time before they can get back into the swing of things. How much time, however, still remains to be seen.

FlyQuest, on the other hand, were both "hot" and cold. They ended the first week with a respectable 2-1 record, with wins over Counter Logic Gaming and Evil Geniuses, neither of which is worth much given just how badly both teams performed. And it wasn't a case of FlyQuest pushing them to make mistakes either -- they imploded without any exerted pressure from the boys in white and green. Still, a win is a win, so they deserve a bit of credit.

In the end, we simply have to side with Cloud9 on this one as it's the only logical option. They might not be particularly dangerous right now, but they should still be more than capable enough to fend of a relatively game FlyQuest. Even if they win, though, they probably won't do so in any spectacular fashion. In any case, this is the perfect kind of game for Cloud9 as it will allow them to not only get back into the swing of things but also build a bit of much-needed hype and momentum.
