FlyQuest vs 100 Thieves

The first game of the day is by no means a barnburner. We have the defending LCS champions taking on a winless team that has done very little to warrant anyone's benefit of the doubt. That's... not exactly hype-inducing. And, well, if FlyQuest's level of play is anything to go by, there's really nothing whatsoever they'll be able to do to get the win here. We've witnessed many upsets thus far, but them taking down 100 Thieves feels so improbable we might as well call it science fiction.

Now, make no mistake: they're not bad on paper. In fact, they have a very respectable line-up, one that should've been fairly competitive from the beginning. Why, then, have they been so darn dreadful? Granted, the sample size that's at our disposal is by no means gargantuan, but still: they should've played better. Losing isn't the problem here but rather the fashion in which it happened. The fact that they failed to beat Cloud9's LCS-caliber roster is by no means scandalous -- it was an expected outcome. But dropping the ball against TSM's Academy line-up? That's pretty much scandalous and a very telling sign that we might have given this team a bit too much trust coming into 2022.

It's not time to "jump ship" or sound the alarms, but you gotta feel for the boys in white and green -- nothing seems to be working and there's very little that they done that warrants any kind of praise or commendation. They are quite possibly the worst team in the league now and while there *is* ample time for them to grow and further develop we'd be remiss if we didn't say that this line-up didn't even have that high of a skill ceiling to begin with. Kumo is pretty mediocre and we don't even remember the last time Josedeodo did something worthy of mentioning. FlyQuest's new mid laner has shown *some* promise, but it's highly debatable whether he'll be able to "spread his wings" and show the world what he's capable of next to such flawed teammates. Johnsun and Aphromoo are both known quantities, but they, too, haven't been all that cohesive or impactful.

It's still way too early to draw any conclusions, but we're nonetheless disappointed with their play and are not optimistic whatsoever about their chances going forward. And, well, there's nothing they'll be able to do against a team as stacked, talented, and cohesive as 100 Thieves.
