Evil Geniuses vs Royal Never Give Up

On the one hand, there's really not a whole lot to get excited about here -- Royal Never Give Up taking on Evil Geniuses is about as big of a mismatch as one can imagine. Still, it'll be a wholly important litmus test for the North American champions and also an indication of how much (if at all) the region as a whole has grown. We know who's going to win; this match-up is the very definition of a "foregone conclusion," and, well, no one should be surprised for that being the case.

This version of Royal Never Give Up is comprised of some of the best and most capable players the world of competitive LoL has to offer. They're not perfect, mind you, but they way in which they set up objectives and the zest with which they teamfight are unparalleled and without equal. And, well, it's safe to assume that they still haven't realized their full potential. That, too, is an astonishing bit of information.

Evil Geniuses, on the other hand, are the quintessential LCS champions: capable, feisty, better than most people give them credit for, but still flawed beyond measure. They're perhaps a bit worse than we thought they'd be, but the sample size that's currently at our disposal is neither particularly large *nor* all that viable, so we'll reserve judgement for the time being and hope for the best.

If you're a fan of Royal Never Give Up, you'll tune in to see your team dominate and get yet another win on the board. If, however, you're sporting an Evil Geniuses jersey, you'll either squirm through the whole ordeal or shut the stream off at the first sign of trouble (which, frankly, is bound to happen sooner rather than later). Regardless, the LCS champions have nothing to lose and they're quite fearless, too, which means they might be able to push Royal Never Give Up further than expected. It's a stretch, we know, but it *is* a possibility and is, therefore, worth mentioning. That's what we're all wondering and, well, we're bound to get our answers in a matter of hours!

For RNG, anything other than a lopsided beatdown will automatically be deemed a failure (and with good reason). The set-up, however, is noticeably more forgiving towards their forthcoming opponents. If Evil Geniuses can somehow put up a fight (and look even *remotely* good doing it), they'll not only earn everyone's respect but also generate a very respectable amount of momentum -- the kind of which that could prove most useful (if not game-changing) for the rest of their games going forward.

All in all, they have every reason to tryhard and play like their lives depend on it. We don't expect them to win, but we *do* believe in their potential to trade blows and entertain the masses, so not all is grim.
