Evil Geniuses vs Immortals

This is where things get a bit easier prediction-wise. Evil Geniuses have looked nigh unstoppable thus far, and have already done more than enough to warrant our benefit of the doubt. Whether they're good enough to dethrone 100 Thieves and win the second ever LCS Lock-In still remains to be seen, but they're darn good at the game and surprisingly cohesive, too, despite making three changes to their starting line-up.

Immortals, on the other hand, have been about as abysmal as it gets. In fact, one could even go a step further and say that they've been the de facto worst-performing team in North America. Granted, the sample size isn't that big, but the point stands nonetheless. FlyQuest haven't been much better, in all fairness, but at least they've shored up some of their most egregious flaws (as evidenced by their upset win over 100 Thieves). They're better than they've let on previously, but potentially not by much. In any case, the jury's still out, and the same goes for Immortals who have more tools to work with compared to the boys in white and green and yet failed to get off the ground in either of their games.

Now, much like FlyQuest and TSM FTX, they'll probably look a fair bit better this time around, but there's a problem: they're scheduled to face one of the best-performing teams around in Evil Geniuses. Even if Immortals were to play at their best they'd still probably lose to EG -- there's really no other way to say it. The gap between these two teams is absolutely huge and it simply cannot be narrowed in a few hours' time (if ever). Immortals will, at best, make things somewhat competitive, but expecting anything more than that would not only be overly optimistic but downright unfair as well. They'll be in over their heads, especially if Evil Geniuses play as well as they did over the last two days.

Still, this is an important game for Immortals. They don't need a win as much as they need a somewhat solid showing. Not for us, necessarily, but for them and their confidence going forward. Getting dismantled three times in a row is not the kind of start any well-rounded contender wants, and it's also something that might be hard to come back from psychologically. We know for a fact that Immortals have it in them -- they just need to show up, draft for comfort, and the results will follow suit.
