Evil Geniuses vs G2 Esports

This particular match-up is not for the faint of heart. We've seen G2 dominate and outclass Evil Geniuses a whopping five times thus far, but this particular clash *does* feel a bit different. Back then, the LEC champions looked nigh unstoppable. They had the absolute best read on the meta and were playing out of their minds. But many things have changed since that point, and the G2 that will now take the stage and compete is but a mere shadow of its former self.

And we're all baffled and confused beyond measure. Their drafts regressed, their play collapsed, their synergy evaporated. And no one's all too sure why things took such a dramatic u-turn. Nothing foreshadowed it, nothing we could discern and analyze -- this implosion took place overnight. Will they be able to bounce back? Should their many fans still cultivate a bit of hope and optimism or, conversely, "jump ship" and sound the alarms?

Evil Geniuses, on the other hand, have stepped up quite a bit. They're still flawed and prone to making egregious mistakes, but they *have* improved, and for that they deserve our praise and commendation. Have they improved *enough* to stand a chance against G2, though? That's the million dollar question, and it's a wholly important one as well seeing how they failed to win the last five times they've crossed paths with the LEC champs.

That's... quite a dreadful statistic, all things considered. You'd think that they'd be able to win at least once, what with them having so many opportunities to prepare for just a single opponent. G2, however, seems to have their number. They've regressed beyond measure and their four-game losing streak attests to the fact. They've imploded out of the blue and, well, it's impossible not to wonder whether this is just a temporary "detour" and a snafu they'll bounce back from or, conversely, the beginning of the end.

Both options seem possible.

We cannot help but side with G2 on this one. Their tremendous downfall is amongst the most vexing developments of the entire tournament, but they *did* beat EG on all five occasions, and that has to amount to something. Both teams have changed and evolved in the intervening days since their last "duel," but all of the prep they did a few weeks back still applies and can be harnessed for the sixth (and hopefully final) time.

G2 have the edge. There's no doubt about it. We just hope they'll be able to harness it fully and, in doing so, finally correct course and get back to their winning ways.
