Team Vitality vs Rogue

Next up, we have a clash between Rogue and Team Vitality. On paper, this is a fight between two seemingly equal challengers, and yet Rogue had went above and beyond in surprising us with their immense potential and mechanical talent. That's about as far from Vitality as you can get, as the French organization failed to mount much of an offensive over their first three 2020 LEC outings.

To say that they underwhelmed every time they stepped foot on stage would truly be an understatement. They're not exactly bad by any means, they're just not good enough as a five-man unit at the moment to actually compete at a high enough level. They always do some things right, but fall apart at the foundation. No one's really standing out, no one's playing out of their minds, and they're simply lacking impetus and strength to compete against the LEC's best.

Their one-sided loss to G2 Esports yesterday was expected, but many still wanted to see the Vitality of old, the aggressive, proactive five-man behemoth who would never step down from a challenge. Instead, we're seeing a meek, subdued shade of Vitality, and no one's quite impressed. Heck, that's an understatement. Vitality have shown next to nothing over their last three games, and other than perhaps Saken -- their substitute mid laner -- they've failed to mount much of an offensive.

Opposite them, we have Rogue, a team that is without a doubt a Top 4 challenger at the moment. They're by no means perfect, but they have all the right tools to compete at the highest of levels. Their first week performance was mesmerizing, and it made the region take notice. Everyone was expecting a game, aggressive, and mechanically skilled Rogue line-up, and they certainly didn't disappoint.

Their showing yesterday definitely wasn't as impressive, but that's understandable seeing how they fought against a team many consider as the second best in the region right now. Origen didn't much time to completely dismantle Rogue across the board. They were more aggressive, proactive, commanding with even the smallest of leads, and they outclassed Rogue from start to finish. The boys in black and blue certainly fought back, but it was too late -- Origen had too big of a lead and they knew how to use it.

The loss to Origen in no way diminishes Rogue's efforts, nor does it mean they're any less threatening or capable. It does, however, mean they're not ready to compete with the teams ranked above them. That one fact can certainly change in record time, but right now, as things stand, they need a bit more time before being able to tango with the very best. So in that sense, they're on the outside of the Top 3 looking in, and they're bound to challenge sooner rather than later.

You can bet they're looking for redemption after dropping the ball yesterday, and a team like Vitality simply doesn't have what it takes to compete if Rogue play to the best of their ability.
