Team SoloMid vs Gen.G esports

Next up, we have a clash between the third best team from the LCK and the LCS champions. On paper, there's quite a lot to like about this one, and if you have the time, make sure to tune in as we're bound to see a hectic, skirmish-heavy affair that *should* deliver on all fronts.

The first time these two teams met, it's fair to say that things didn't start off like most of us expected. Team SoloMid not only went blow for blow with Gen.G -- a team widely presumed to be vastly superior -- but even eked out small advantages across the map. They didn't have a gold lead, but they kept things competitive from the very beginning. The fact that they drafted Zilean for Bjergsen told us they meant business and were looking to register a win on the board and mount a comeback. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. Gen.G was better when it mattered most, with more decisive calls, faster engages, and a far more proactive approach throughout the game. Their macro was also lightyears ahead of the LCS champions who, while certainly capable, simply couldn't match Gen.G in any segment of the game other than sheer laning and mechanical talent.

Naturally, this talented LCK line-up persevered and eventually turned the tides with relative ease. They capitalized when it mattered most and there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to do so yet again. If TSM couldn't win with their comfort picks, then it's about time to sound the alarms. They simply didn't do enough to warrant anyone's benefit of the doubt, and that's bound to remain the case going forward. Gen.G is by no means clean or commanding, but they're good, they're consistent, and they know what they're good at. They're also playing better, both individually but also as a five-man unit.

Still, the boys in black and white are no pushover, despite their dreadful performances. They have all the right tools to not only compete on even footing but even eke out a win, but they need to step up and they need to do it fast. If they draft and execute to the best of their ability they might actually stand a chance, but the odds of that happening (in such a short time frame) are incredibly slim, so we're going with the safer choice on this one and that's Gen.G. Still, this won't be nearly as easy as most people expect. TSM fights hardest when their backs are against the wall, and that'll probably be the case today as well.
