Team SoloMid vs CLG

What a thoroughly vexing match-up, one that is not only precarious in nature but also steeped in multi-year-long narratives; these two orgs have been a part of some of the best and most dramatic storylines in North American history. Now, though, they're nothing but bottom-feeders, but the point stands nonetheless. Those who've watched them dominate years ago still have a bit of reverence for their logos and jerseys, although it's fair to say that those days feel so remote and distant they might as well be considered fiction. It's been a hot minute since the last time these two teams were relevant. For TSM, it's about a year and a half, give or take. For CLG, however, we're talking almost half a decade. So obviously they're in a far less enviable position.

Interestingly enough though, both teams have recently shown signs of life, and have somehow been able to generate a bit of hype and momentum coming into the last week of regular season play. They're neither good nor impressive, but they *have* been able to put up a fight when facing some of their more capable (not to mention successful) peers. That might not sound like much, but it's still an improvement over their thoroughly abysmal play from the very start of the split.

So who's better here? Well, that's downright impossible to say. There are so many volatile elements that it could really go either. How will these teams draft? Will Luger be put on a comfort pick? Will TSM come out the gates swinging now that they no longer have a shot at making playoffs? Will CLG crumble under the pressure? There are so many questions in the air and they're quite frankly unanswerable — it all depends on early game execution and the way in which they end up drafting. We'll find out soon enough, but we'll go with CLG on this one and hope for the best — that's the most we can do at this point in time. They've been a fair bit more competitive and consistent, although that by no means has to result in them getting the win here.
