Team Liquid vs Team SoloMid

A clash between Team Liquid and Team SoloMid is always an absolute must watch — that's pretty much a fact. And this one, frankly speaking, is no different in that regard. We're talking about two seasoned, age-old organizations that are the pillars of the North American LCS. And right now, they're both vying for a spot at the top of the region.

Unfortunately, only one of the two has the tools and long-term potential to turn such a goal into reality and that, of course, is Team Liquid. They are without a shadow of a doubt one of the best and most capable teams in North America and will invariably continue dominating over the coming weeks and months no matter whom they're up against. That's just what happens when you assemble a line-up with so many exquisite players, give them time to synergize, and provide them with an equally stacked and capable coaching staff. For Team Liquid, there's no slowing down any time soon. The inclusion of Alphari and Santorin are exactly what "the doctor ordered" and will no doubt propel this team to immense heights.

Team SoloMid, on the other hand, didn't do much to earn our benefit of the doubt. Heck, we're putting it mildly here — they were downright dreadful last week. Some will argue that a three-game tally isn't all that big of a sample size and we'd definitely agree, but it was still more than enough to see whether they actually have the oomph to compete at the highest of levels. And, frankly, they did not impress whatsoever. They're a severely flawed team, and while not all is grim for the boys in black and white, one could argue that they won't be able to leave much of a mark without making at least one change to the starting line-up (probably in the top lane). Multiple North American teams upgraded big time during the course of the off-season, and TSM, on paper, doesn't have all that much to offer. That doesn't mean they're particularly bad or that they won't improve over time, but next to Team Liquid, Cloud9, 100 Thieves, and Evil Geniuses, they *do* pale in comparison. Heck, they nearly lost to the Golden Guardians -- a team with two collegiate players. That's not a good look.

And sure, TSM will grow and evolve, but barring any huge, unforeseen twist, they shouldn't be able to leave much of a mark once all is said and done. This time around, we're siding with Team Liquid as it's the only logical choice. It might not be as one-sided as some people expect, but TL should be more than capable of getting the win.
