Team Dignitas vs Cloud9
After two incredibly even match-ups, we have a one-sided beatdown that'll serve as something of a reprieve from all the chaos and uncertainty. And, well, we're very glad for that being the case. Dignitas *could* in theory, pull off an upset, but it's so unlikely there's really no reason for us to even take it into consideration. Cloud9 are better in every way, shape, and form, and they're probably motivated to make a statement after getting upset by none other than their perennial adversaries TSM FTX.
Losing *has* been destigmatized, but only to a certain degree; dropping the ball against one of the worst teams in North America, however, is simply unacceptable. Now sure, it's just a single game and it means nothing whatsoever relative to the grand scheme of things, but it's still a bad look for a team most folks think of as the biggest favorite to win Spring and represent NA at the biggest of stages. It reeks of vulnerability, and that's not something a top-tier team ever wants, especially not now when the playoffs are right around the corner.
Still, we can't fault C9 *too much*, even though a bit of criticism certainly *is* warranted. Compared to Dignitas, they're an absolute towering behemoth, one of unparalleled strength and potential. And, naturally, no one should be overly surprised to see them so heavily favoured by the oddsmakers. If they were to lose here, it'd be a debacle worthy of the history books and a most tremendous failure -- one that would no doubt affect their confidence coming into the postseason. So, with that in mind, they'll probably look to dominate and make as big of a statement as they possibly can. Dignitas never go down without first putting up a fight, so we don't think this one will be particularly one-sided; still, a win for Cloud9 definitely *is* in the cards, and everyone knows it, too.
