Rogue vs Splyce

For our second match of the day, we have an interesting clash between Splyce and Rogue.

Now, by all accounts, this isn't exactly the pinnacle of competitive League of Legends. You have one team that has a ton of potential (Splyce), and another that — even though they showed some promise — isn't exactly capable of going blow-for-blow with even the mid-tier LEC teams.

And that'll almost surely remain the case throughout the Spring Split.

That, however, doesn't mean that good play will be absent come Friday. Far from it. Both teams have a lot to prove and fight for. Splyce ended their first LEC week with a solid 1W-1L record, and while that's not too shabby, they were on the verge of winning against Team Vitality, and their potential 2-0 start to the Split was overturned in a split second.

They're still a bit rough around the edges, but you can immediately see the potential within the roster. They showcased a lot of growth from 2018 Splyce, and their up-and-coming mid laner Humanoid played way above expectations, especially against the likes of Exile and Jiizuke. Even though they eventually lost to Vitality, they were basically better on all fronts. They were faster on the map, more willing to engage, more in-sync and cohesive. They picked Vitality apart from the bottom lane, but once things went into the late game, Vitality had more tools to work with.

These were promising signs, and even though they lost their improved early game means they will no longer be a late-game threat, but instead a more layered mid-tier contender. Their game against Rogue is a relatively easy one, and winning it will further solidify their spot as a strong middle-of-the-pack team that's aiming for the playoffs.

As for Rogue, there's not a lot of positive that you can highlight. They did some things right in their games against Misfits and Excel Esport, but the fact that they were unable to take down even a team that many thought will occupy the very bottom the standings is a worrying sign. There's some potential within the Rogue line-up (especially considering just how many veterans they have signed), but they really need to show something in the coming weeks if they want to be considered anything else than a bottom-tier team.

Profit, Kikis, Sencux, HeaQ, and Wadid. That's a solid, well-rounded line-up if there ever was one. They're not going to challenge for a top 3 spot, they won't even come close to the playoffs, but they have the strength and experience that's necessary in order to be somewhat competitive. Whether or not they'll mesh together as a five-man unit is a completely different matter though.

We're going with Splyce on this one, and with full confidence. You shouldn't expect much from Rogue at this point, at least not until they step up and prove their worth. Splyce, on the other hand, have already shown ample potential and they're looking to build upon their performance from last week. While it might not be particularly dominant, they should be able to get the win.
