Misfits vs Unicorns of Love

For our third match of the day we have a clash between Misfits and the Unicorns of Love. This might not seem that important, but Misfits are currently in a four-way tie that could be key in determining who gets to playoffs and who doesn't. Getting a win over the Unicorns of Love should be a relatively easy task, so do expect Misfits to come out of the gates swinging.

Misfits are currently seen as perhaps the second or third best team in the EU LCS, however it's important to note that they're on a three game losing streak. They have a ton of issues and most of them are in the communication department. They have to start playing great again if they want to contest for a solid playoff spot as we are just a single day away from the middle of the split.

Their over-reliance on Hans Sama to carry is troublesome. He is a Top 3 ADC at the moment without a doubt, however he isn't flawless and if he makes a mistake that leaves Misfits in a lot of trouble. They're often playing for the late game as they're not that in-sync when they try to execute early game team comps and strategies, however when teams like Splyce and Giants are focusing on the late game as well, every single game ultimately gets decided by just a single teamfight.

On a side note, you can see however a serious shift in their damage numbers however between the 2017 Summer Split and the 2018 Spring Split. Ever since PowerOfEvil left - who was their primary catalyst more often than not, Hans Sama picked up the damage share numbers quite a bit and so did Alphari. The Britishman who was once renowned for his incredible laning was forced to play frontline during the majority of 2017, however with the current meta shifts towards carries like Camille, Gankplank and Gnar, he is once again a force to be reckoned with.

Sadly even though they managed to figure out their own damage distribution, Sencux is by far the worst performing member of the Misfits roster and has shown little improvement over the last four weeks. He fails to have an impact regardless of the champion he plays, and they tried putting him on utility mids like Galio and carries like Ryze and Azir as well. Simply said, this isn't his split and his level of play is impacting Misfits heavily.

Watching them play over the last couple of weeks was a confusing sight. You can see that they're still an incredibly strong team, but they just don't have the synergy down yet.

As for the Unicorns of Love, well, they're in a confusing spot right now. They have just a single win after eight regular season matches but they're looking better with each passing week. Sadly looking better is a fairly small consolation prize if they're not able to translate their leads and good plays into wins.

All eyes are once again set on Exileh and his level of play. His abysmal laning and decision making continued from the 2017 Summer Split, as he is by far the worst performing member on the UOL roster - for the second year in a row. He is sporting the lowest KDA (1.5), lowest kill pariticipation (61.4%) and - much like the entirety of 2017 - highest death share at a staggering 28.4%! His laning is somewhat acceptable however he always goes for plays that simply do not exist. When he isn't on his staple Ryze he isn't able to exert any kind of pressure or dominance and is looking lost on the Rift more often than not.

Unfortunately the rest of the team isn't looking that good either. They have short bursts of great play however they are too few and far between. Their jungler Kold has perhaps been the only shining light for the UOL roster as he always performs admirably well regardless of the pick he's on.

Last week they pushed G2 to the limit and had a couple of fantastic mid-game skirmishes however it seemed as though they didn't know what they wanted to do when they had any sort of lead. Sadly they're one of the weakest teams at the moment and it probably won't change in the foreseeable future. They might be able to surprise Misfits early and perhaps even get the lead, however Misfits' experience and mental fortitude should be the determining factor when all is said and done.
