Misfits vs G2 Esports

For our third match of the day, we have a pretty exciting clash between the defending champions G2 Esports and Misfits Gaming.

Any time G2 Esports step foot on stage, there's a reason to tune in. You never really know what they'll do, or how they'll do it. And that makes every single game a must watch.

This time around they're entering the fifth week of play with as much hype and momentum as humanly possible. They're not only the best and most stacked team in Europe's history, but they're also coming in hot after dominating (and having fun, quite frankly) at the most recent Rift Rivals tournament over in North America.

To say that they're the best and most flexible team in the world right now would be an understatement.

That said, they're not exactly fully invested every time they step foot on stage. Perhaps that's even an understatement. They know they're a powerhouse, so they're taking their time, to say the least. They want to have fun, and who can blame them? They know they're going to dominate when it matters the most, so why not enjoy the ride?

That's great for them and for the viewers, but it's an absolute nightmare for the rest of us who are looking to bet on them. They're stronger by default regardless of the opponent, but they won't always play up to their full potential. They simply don't want to tryhard every single time and it's hard to blame them.

Misfits Gaming, on the other hand, are still struggling as much as ever. They're solid all-around but they're still unable to maintain a respectable level of play. They're experimenting with their roster (as they should), but they were still unable to find any concrete success.

Does this mean they'll simply roll over and surrender? Not in the slightest. But against a team that is as carnivorous and flexible as G2 Esports, there's just no avenue towards success. They're stronger as a five-man unit, but they're also (considerably) better on an individual level. G2 can draft anything they want to and they'll still be heavily favored.

Misfits Gaming have a lot of potential, there's no way around it, but if they were unable to realize it by now, there's no reason why we should give them our benefit of the doubt.

In the end, we simply have to side with G2 Esports. There's no reason not to, especially against a struggling team like Misfits Gaming. G2 Esports are on a completely different level right now and there's not much Misfits will be able to do in order to make this a competitive affair. That said, if G2 members get out the gate looking to have fun, this could be a lot closer than most people expect.

We're not going all-in with our bet, and that's mainly because we know about G2 Esports' inherent nature. That said, they should be more than capable of getting the job done, regardless of the way the game develops.
