Misfits vs G2 Esports

For our fourth match of the day we have an incredibly exciting clash between the "Kings of Europe" G2 eSports and Misfits - also a rematch of the 2017 Summer Split finals.

Now both these teams are currently predicted to be somewhat similar in strength, however it is G2 that has consistently shown more on the Rift. More aggression, more synergy and a clearer idea on how to play the game in the current meta.

All eyes were set on yesterday's match of the week between G2 and Vitality. Everyone expected a close bloodbath, and yet what we got was a complete shellacking - a perfect game from G2 eSports.

G2 was alwways better and faster on the map, and played to perfection. Vitality was hoping to stall out, focus on objectives and stay somewhat close in gold until their late game opportunity came, however they were set at such a big disadvantage that there was simply no hope.

A big factor of course was just how dominant Wunder and Jankos were in all stages of the game. Wunder - who leads the region in CSD@10 (14.1), KDA (8.8) and Damage per minute (617) got his hands on Gankplank - a big failure on Vitality's part as he's shown incredible impact and proficiency on the pick. Jankos' synergy with Perkz (Zac + Galio combo) was a fantastic sight to behold as well as they were always in-sync, protecting one another and keeping 100% kill participation throughout the entire game.

It was that much more impressive due to the fact that it all looked like child's play on the side of G2 eSports, and yet they were up against the highly respected, highly confident Vitality squad that only lost once this split - whereas G2 had three losses. They were in-sync, aggressive and always at the right place at the right time. Furthermore they realized their win condition and even played their team comp to a tee. Wadid and Hjarnan engaged on Minitroupax's Kalista a couple of minutes prior to a planned team skirmish in order to waste his Flash. Everything was set up in advance, they always though a couple of steps ahead and it paid off in spades.

It was an incredible display of skill and an incredibly dominant showing from a team that was though to be right on the heels of Vitality. When they shut down Jiizuke, Vitality's only hope was Minitroupax, however even Hjarnan and Wadid did their part and and won the bottom lane 2v2.

As for Misfits, they were able to snap a four game losing streak with a very clever team comp against the Unicorns of Love. They looked like the Misfits of old and they managed to win even with Hans Sama on a poking Ezreal rather than a late game hypercarry. They put Sencux on the unkillable Galio and simply executed their team comp to perfection. Malphite/Jarvan engaging paired with a Galio ultimate was too big of a combo for UOL to handle. The leads they built through better macro were simply too big and after only 34 minutes they managed to close it out.

Still, it wasn't spotless and a better team could have better exploited their strategy. Had it been Fnatic or perhaps Vitality, they wouldn't have such an easy time executing.

G2's performance yesterday was frightening, it was an incredible, blistering display of skill and potential. If they needed so "little" to take down the number one (7W-1L) team, it's hard not giving them the benefit of the doubt going into any future match. Misfits are playing better as well, and they might be able to pull out a surprise or two - as they did with yesterday's wombo combo draft including Malphite and Galio, but it shouldn't be enough in the end.

However make no mistake, this shouldn't be as easy for G2 as yesterday's match but they should be able to come out victorious.
