Misfits vs FC Schalke 04

For our first match of the day we have a somewhat interesting clash between Schalke 04 and Misfits Gaming. Now, this is by no means a must watch, but it should be an interesting clash regardless. It's important to highlight that this match, in particular, doesn't carry much significance in the grand scheme of things, but it should allow Schalke to further advance in the standings and build even more momentum coming into the playoffs.

But before we talk about Schalke, we need to focus on Misfits Gaming, at least for a little bit. Their recent level of play is nothing to write home about, and even though they did improve ever so slightly once they put in their "B team", they're still nowhere near the level of a top-tier challenger. They're still making changes to their roster, but it feels like this is definitely a case of "too little, too late". They could, potentially, upset from time to time and perhaps drag someone down into the gutter, but don't expect a lot from the Misfits line-up.

It's simply too late into the split to actually make a run for the playoffs, and they also lack the necessary skills and team cohesion which are necessary to pull such a resurgence off.

Schalke, on the other hand, are downright amazing. They're definitely not going to dethrone G2 Esports (not yet, at least), but they definitely have the right tools in order to tango with the best the LEC has to offer. They're a layered threat and they never go down without a fight. Furthermore, they became increasingly flexible as the meta evolved, so they're definitely a tough nut to crack.

Whether or not they have what it takes in order to challenge for a spot in the Top 3 remains to be seen, but they're incredibly close to the LEC pantheon and they should, with time, be able to further develop and actually leave a mark. Right now, however, they're focusing on one game at a time, and they have a rather simple challenge in front of them. That doesn't necessarily mean they're going to steamroll Misfits, but the odds are definitely stacked in their favor.

They need every win they can get in order to lock down a higher spot in the standings (and, by proxy, the playoffs), and they're surely looking to outclass a sub-par Misfits Gaming line-up.
