Immortals vs Team Liquid
Two teams stand atop the LCS: the first one's Team Liquid, a line-up so stacked and capable we won't even waste any time in singing their praises. Everyone's aware of their mind-blowing potential, so there's really no use in highlighting it -- we've done so many a time in the past. The other team, or frontrunner, rather, is Cloud9. Much of the same holds true for them as well, but they've had a somewhat bumpier ride thus far so we're not yet willing to board the "hype train," if you will.
Immortals, like so many others, don't have much to offer. They're good, especially when they get their comfort picks, but they're nowhere near good enough for it to matter. They did, however, get a few impressive wins on the board and, if the early game goes in their favor (unlikely, but not impossible), they could very well give TL a run for their money. We know it sounds absurd and ridiculous, but they're not to be underestimated -- a team with Xerxe, PowerOfEvil, and WildTurtle is a team that has all the right "tools" to leave some kind of a mark. Heck, even Revenge and Destiny -- two players most folks had their doubts about -- have been absolutely stellar thus far.
They're still way too inconsistent but we have, in all fairness, seen glimpses of what they could become (in due time), and we were not left indifferent. That, however, should not be enough against an LCS giant like TL. They're equipped to tackle the very best teams in the world, and Immortals simply don't fit the bill. That doesn't mean they won't be able to put up a fight (spoiler: they very much will), but rather that betting on TL is the only logical option.
