Immortals vs Gigabyte Adonis Marines

We are on the verge of the second week of groups, and things are getting very heated in every single group. The difference this time is a big one - teams are playing three games in a day. Momentum and mental fortitude will be the deciding factors.

There are two big questions for group B

1) Will the Gigabyte Marines come up with something new?

2) Will Fnatic rebound and make Europe proud?

The Marines had a couple of days to recuperate and adjust. That gives them ample time to reassess their shortcomings and to better prepare. It also gives them an opportunity to come up with another "cheese" strategy. Now calling their approach to the game "cheesy" isn't correct, however they're not relying on individual skill or teamwork to win, they're relying on the "X factor", and they had moderate success with it so far.

They managed to take down Fnatic in week one with a phenomenal hard leash for Levi's Nocturne that paid off in spades as he hit level six at the five minute mark. The Gigabyte Marines didn't stop there as they went for a lane swap very early on - something that hasn't been played for two years now. (a small exception were their own games at this year's Mid-Season Invitational)

They're banking on the fact that these international teams aren't experienced in taking on the lane-swap meta and they're correct. It's a strategy that has been completely absent in almost all regions for quite the long time now.

That said, their novelty ran off quickly. They were steamrolled by Longzhu and lost against Immortals as well.

As for Immortals, they're playing a lot better than one would expect for a team that was essentially assembled only a year ago. (Xmithie joined the roster only a couple of months ago) They're calm in clutch situations and they don't seem to lose focus even when behind which gives them an edge regardless of what Gigabyte Marines come out the gate with.

Betting on Immortals is the more logical choice here.
