Immortals vs CLG

It's been a weird day for competitive League of Legends. Many upsets, twists, turns, and developments that have made our heads spin and, well, there's still ample room and potential for that string to continue. Immortals taking on Counter Logic Gaming will, hopefully, serve as a reprieve for all the chaos. One can never be too certain, in all fairness, but CLG have done the least out of all their peers and are widely regarded as the worst team in North America; they've "earned" this unflattering status, and they'll probably retain it for the weeks and months to come.

Immortals, on the other hand, have a surprising amount of momentum and have actually improved leaps and bounds compared to their week one performance. They're still incredibly inconsistent and sloppy, but whenever the stars align and these players get on the same page they can definitely tango with the very best teams in NA. And, by the looks of it, these moments will become ever more frequent as we move closer to the Spring Split playoffs.

They're not a giant of unparalleled strength but they're still skilled enough to give everyone a run for their money and, potentially, leave a mark. That's pretty much what we thought they'd be: a capable mid-tier contender with a fairly unique identity and more veterans than you can shake a stick at. Calling them a gatekeeper would also be fairly appropriate, but it's more of a pejorative term which is why we'd rather avoid it for the time being -- we don't want to label them prematurely as it wouldn't be fair.

After all, they've beaten both 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses, so who's to say what they could or could not accomplish? It's still a bit too early to draw any conclusions, but they've nonetheless piqued our interest and we can't wait to see them back on stage. If everything goes "according to plan," they'll get another win on the board and inch closer to a .500 record.
