Immortals vs 100 Thieves

To close out the day, we have a fairly interesting match-up between 100 Thieves and Immortals. Now, "fairly interesting" is a pretty acceptable way of putting it — this is by no means a premier match-up, nor will it be remembered for years to come. Heck, we'll all probably forget it in a matter of hours. Still, there's a bit of potential, and it might end up being a lot more entertaining than most people expect. And even if it ends up as an utter shellacking, there's still a reason to tune in. After all, one-sided beatdowns never went out of fashion, especially in the North American LCS.

But credit where credit is due: Immortals have been performing a lot better than anyone thought was possible. They are by no means a competitive behemoth nor will they ever truly challenge for a spot at the top, but they're deceptively dangerous and capable of upsetting, in spite of appearances.

They are, however, inherently flawed, and are often punching way above their weightclass. Now, the sheer fact that they're doing so is commendable, but it means that sooner or later they always have to deflate and regress back to "normal." So just because they have a win over, say, Evil Geniuses, doesn't mean they're ready to challenge for a spot in the playoffs. It just means that they were able to huddle up, get on the same page, and execute on that particular day without making any egregious mistakes along the way. And it is precisely because these moments *do* happen that there's always a reason to tune in whenever they step foot on stage to compete. They're never favored to actually get the win, but you can never be too sure that they won't entertain and suddenly compete on even footing, despite the unfavorable odds.

100 Thieves, however, are simply on a whole 'nother level. They're better across the board, both individually as well as a five-man unit, they have more synergy, a higher skill ceiling, and they're undoubtedly one of the biggest frontrunners to challenge for the LCS throne. They're not perfect, mind you, but they're exceptional in more ways than one and have wasted little time in letting everyone know they mean business. With one of the best bottom lane duos in the entire region -- and a an equally talented top laner as well -- they're more than well-equipped for the task at hand: beating a feisty gatekeeper that won't leave much of a mark in the grand scheme of things.

It might not be as clean or commanding as most people expect, but 100 Thieves should definitely be able to get the win without breaking much of a sweat!
