Golden Guardians vs Evil Geniuses
EG are, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best teams in North America. Well, at least when they manage to mount an offensive and don’t fall off the rails for whatever reason. It happens to everyone, sure, but for them it’s been an oddily frequent occurrence.
At their best they’re an absolute behemoth — in sync, aggressive, vastly talented and capable beyond measure. You give them an inch and they’ll take a mile, you give them a few hundred gold and they’ll snowball it to a few thousand on a moment’s notice. This, too, was to be expected given their incredibly capable (and most seasoned) line-up — Danny, in particular, has been their most impressive, dangerous catalyst. Always on the offensive, always prepared to make the game-winning play and to push his team over the finish line. Watching EG play has been a pleasure, which is why we were so baffled and confused whenever they failed to mount an offensive and seal the deal, so to speak.
Fortunately, their inconsistent, flawed days are seemingly behind them (for the time being, at least). They’ve started the last week of regular season play with a bang and are poised to lock down their spot in the playoffs in a matter of hours. They might not be as good or consistent as was the case back in the LCS Lock-In, but they’re not that far off either. At the time being, they’re undoubtedly a Top 4 team and should definitely be able to best the Golden Guardians and, in doing so, lock down a ticket for the postseason. It’s not going to come easy (far from it), but they have the tools to weather the storm and emerge victorious.
GGS are extremely dangerous and they’re bound to come out the gates swinging, but if there’s one team that can match their unrelenting aggression, it has to be EG. In any case, it’ll be more than worth the watch!
