Golden Guardians vs CLG

As harsh as it might sound, it's hard to get excited about a match-up that includes Counter Logic Gaming. They're not exactly the worst team in the region, but they're not far off either. And even if they are better than Dignitas and Immortals, that's only in the most negligible of ways.

For all intents and purposes, Counter Logic Gaming is a bottom-tier dweller that is bound to finish outside of the playoffs Top 6. There's just nothing impressive about them, nor does their play instill us with any confidence for their long-term potential. For CLG to do anything, really, they have to go for a complete roster overhaul. One could argue that the only player worth keeping is none other than Pobelter, the seasoned LCS mid laner who was brought on mid-Spring. A couple of changes in the coaching staff wouldn't hurt either. Overall, they *can* play solid League of Legends when they start off on the right foot (how could they not with so many experienced veterans under the CLG banner), but whenever they face any kind of adversity they tend to implode in a matter of minutes.

They're not the kind of team that'll just roll over and surrender, but they lack the power to compete even with the many LCS mid-tier gatekeepers.

Speaking of gatekeepers, the Golden Guardians have made quite a splash recently. Their 8W-7L record is quite impressive given the tools they have to work with, and their unrelenting aggression and mechanical talent are equally as respectable. They might not look like a particularly dangerous team, but they're obviously better than most people give them credit. Now, no one's quite sure just how good GGS is at this point in time, primarily because we've seen their incredible highs *and* abysmal lows. You never know which shade of GGS will step foot on stage to compete, which makes betting on (or against) them an absolute nightmare. Still, the fact that they've taken Cloud9 down in such incredible fashion yesterday tells us they mean business, and are riding quite a big momentum wave. They're by no means a competitive behemoth, but they're darn good once they set things up and double down on their strengths.

Either way, they shouldn't have too much trouble in taking CLG down. This win will practically lock in their playoff spot, so it's fair to assume they'll draft comfort and be on their best behavior.
