Florida Mayhem vs Atlanta Reign
Betting on the Florida Mayhem always feels like a double-edged sword and, well, naturally so: no one's all too sure whether they're any good or not. They're obviously capable, that much is certain, but are they capable *enough* to tango with the very best teams the Overwatch League has to offer?
The jury's still out on that one and, by the looks of it, it'll take a while until we can all find common ground on the matter. They *have* made waves though, and for that they deserve a bit of praise and commendation. They've been a fair bit better and more dangerous than any of us had expected coming into the 2022 edition of the Overwatch League but that, too, could be attributed to the chaotic meta and the fact that everyone's still experimenting and trying to figure out how this novel version of Overwatch should best be played.
The Reign already have a fairly solid win over the Mayhem, but that one happened about a month ago and, needless to say, *a lot* has changed thenceforth. The status quo has shifted and evolved in a myriad of different ways, and very few of them happen to favor Atlanta. The sights of them struggling against the London Spitfire still haunt us -- in no scenario whatsoever is losing to a bottom-dweller acceptable given their aspirations and presumed level of talent.
Now, make no mistake: Altanta are still mighty capable and they *do* have the tools to leave a mark in some way shape, or form, but we're just not certain they're cohesive enough to truly harness their "weapons" and pull off a respectable run. Florida aren't much better, granted, but they *are* a lot more cohesive and have obviously been playing with ample zest and fervor. Whether that'll end up being enough still remains to be seen, but they *do* have ever so slightly more momentum than their forthcoming opponents, so we might as well give them the benefit of the doubt on this one and hope for the best.
Either way, it'll be an incredibly close series that could, potentially, go the distance.
