Evil Geniuses vs Team Dignitas
What a truly fascinating way to start off the day. This might not be a clash of titans but it's actually a lot more alluring than anyone had expected coming into the season and could, by all means, end up being a barnburner. And the mere fact that we can say that about a Dignitas game and not start laughing is not only incredibly surprising but also mighty phenomenal for the region as a whole (and, naturally, for Dignitas as well).
They've been playing some stellar League and deserve a ton of praise for the aggression and boldness which they've brought to the table. Now, they're not exactly a contender, but they will make things a lot more entertaining (and, therefore, even) than anyone thought possible. Everyone's doing their job, and the same goes for FakeGod as well. He's far from a top lane behemoth, but he's actually done more than enough in all of Dignitas' games, flawed as he is. The most important thing is for him to survive the laning phase and let his teammates do hardcarrying. And then, once everyone gets a few items under their belts, that's when FakeGod's teamfighting truly starts to shine.
They've been pretty darn great overall, and are undeniably the biggest surprise of the split. This, however, will be their biggest test yet: Evil Geniuses have been absolutely incredible in nearly all of their games, and are currently one of the biggest frontrunners to challenge 100 Thieves for the LCS throne. They're not perfect, but have nonetheless impressed us in all the right ways.
Now, Dignitas, while undeniably capable and dangerous, do have the tendency to telegraph their moves. River has been most impactful on Jarvan, and the same goes for Blue who has shown a pretty clear proclivity for Zoe and Viktor. What happens to the se players when they don't their comfort picks? Does their effectiveness drop off? It must, and it's only a matter of time before our question gets answered. Now, we don't think that EG will ban their picks away primarily because they know how to play *around* them, but the point still stands. Most other teams will either ban out these champions or pick them themselves so as to counter arguably the *only* strategy that Dignitas have come out the gates with.
We're going with EG on this one, but it's probably not going to be a blowout. In fact, Dignitas might even pull off an upset, but it's quite unlikely and we just don't see it happening.
