Evil Geniuses vs Cloud9

Arguably the most anticipated game of the day (if not the week). We're not going to lie: we dread of having to predict the outcome. Both teams are stacked. Both have the tools to win. And, last but not least, both have very pronounced strengths and a few exploitable weaknesses. How does one, then, go about this prediction? There's really no "safe" way of doing it.

EG and C9 are some of the very best teams in NA, but they, too, can "bleed" and, well, they *have* bled, although it was mostly due to their own mistakes and fumbles rather than from anyone else's doing. They're better than the vast majority of their peers but they still need a few more weeks to iron their kinks out and really make a run for the throne. We know it's coming, although we're still not sure whether they'll be successful or not -- Team Liquid and 100 Thieves stand in the way and, well, they'll surely have a say in the matter.

We're not sure what to think about C9. They've been incredible. There's no two ways about it. But they haven't really faced any... consistent, top-tier teams. Their biggest test was 100 Thieves but they, too, are mighty flawed and exploitable. Wins over DIG, FLY, GGS, and TSM aren't worth much. Well, we're being nice here: they're not worth anything at all. They're not abysmal or anything, but they don't have much to offer against a team as layered and dangerous as C9.

But if there's one team that's as crazy as they are (and, by proxy, as dangerous) then it has to be EG. They never take their foot off the gas -- they're unrelenting, always on the offensive, looking to make a statement and get the highlight reel play. And, in that kind of chaos, they could very well stand a chance at beating C9. It's not the outcome we expect, but it's still totally possible and it wouldn't surprise us one bit. Still, we can't help but go with C9 here as they've been dominating like it's nobody's business. Day after day, game after game, it's like they can do no wrong. They'll lose steam eventually, but we don't think that day has come. That said, EG know what they're in for and have surely done their homework. If they don't make too many mistakes early on they could very well give Fudge and his talented teammates a run for their money.
