Evil Geniuses vs Cloud9
The things Cloud9 did yesterday will long be talked about. Their draft -- the one with Ivern in mid and Sona as support -- was a thing of genius. It took us all by surprise, and the fact that C9 played it to perfection was equally as impressive. Such original drafts are seldom seen in North America and, needless to say, we're extremely happy that someone's willing to think outside the box and take a few risks.
It was as spectacular a debut as we've ever seen, and Cloud9 deserve a metric ton of praise for the way they've handled it. They were in sync, constantly on the offensive, and they played to their win conditions beautifully. They *were* up against the Golden Guardians which, in all fairness, isn't the stiffest of tests, but the point stands nonetheless. It was a hugely impressive showing, and we can't wait to see what else they have in store for us.
Unfortunately, they'll now face one of the very best teams in the LCS, a roster that's as well-rounded and dangerous as they come: Evil Geniuses are a bona fide giant. They're not fooling around either, and have had some of the most one-sided games of 2022. Cloud9 are a huge threat (as evidenced by their very first game), but they're still not cohesive enough to truly rub shoulders with a team as dominant and towering as Evil Geniuses.
With that being said, they're obviously playing their own style, and that alone makes them an incredibly dangerous adversary. You can never really know what they'll come out the gates with which will make preparing for them an absolute nightmare. Be that as it may, Evil Geniuses have a spectacular coaching staff and most of their players are as seasoned as they come. Betting against them simply wouldn't make any sense at this point in time, although this'll by no means be a blowout; LS' ingenious methods will surely level the playing field, at least to a certain degree.
