Evil Geniuses vs 100 Thieves
This game's nigh impossible to predict. There's no two ways about it. We have two teams, each of which is stacked beyond measure, with more veterans, synergy, and mechanical prowess than you can shake a stick at! They're flawed, too, but we'll leave their deficiencies for another time (or paragraph).
Both teams are pretty much a lock for the playoffs, which doesn't mean they can "take a breather" and fool around here -- 100 Thieves has a much more impressive record, and that win delta may prove to be crucial once everything is said and done. Evil Geniuses are currently 7-7 which, while far from spectacular, will almost surely be enough for them to make it in. And, fortunately, they've also stepped up quite a bit lately, although they're still nowhere near as dangerous or cohesive or capable as they were back in January.
Be that as it may, we fully believe in their chances and ability to bounce back, especially in a five-game series where veterans like Impact, Inspired, and Vulcan can take the reins and play their absolute best LoL. Right now, though, it's hard to really give them the benefit of the doubt against the defending champs. They, too, are flawed beyond measure, but they've been a lot more consistent and their biggest catalysts have also been a lot more impactful. The difference between them might not be as large or insurmountable as 100 Thieves would like, but it *does* exist, and we think it'll once more be evident once these two teams spawn on the Rift and start trading blows.
With that being said, this is undoubtedly one of the hardest matches of the day prediction-wise precisely because both teams have a shot at emerging victorious. It'll all boil down to their early game execution and the way in which they draft. That last bit is hugely important and it's not something that EG have thus far excelled at. They've been... middling, somewhat flawed and not at all cohesive in regards to which champions they end up picking and how they all relate to the "bigger picture."
This'll be close, there's no doubt about it. Generally speaking, EG have the tools to win, but we just don't think they'll utilize and harness them appropriately.
