Cloud9 vs Team SoloMid

What a spectacle. To say that this is the match of the week would truly be an understatement. The North American el clasico is bound to entertain beyond our wildest dreams, which makes this an absolute must watch regardless of your allegiance.

To make matters even more interesting, it's obvious that this isn't just a clash between two perennial LCS giants but also a fight between the two best teams in the region. Cloud9's resurgence has been nothing short of awe-inspiring, and saying that they've been wrecking house would be cutting it short. They're simply the best, most dangerous and flexible team in North America at the moment. Their synergy is absolutely insane and each and every member of the team has been carrying his fair share of the weight. There's no weak link, really, which means getting a win against them is nearly impossible at this point in time if they're playing as well as they can.

Their drafts are spectacular and so is their individual performance. Multiple weeks have gone by and yet all five of their players have been getting lauded on-broadcast for their amazing achievements, records, and mind-blowing statistics. Zven, in particular, has blossomed beyond belief ever since he escaped Team SoloMid's clutches. He's always positioned perfectly, dishing out insane amounts of damage while also practically being untouchable. Such incredible play resulted in just a single death over six games and three weeks. Talk about a renaissance...

Cloud9 as a whole don't have a weakness at the moment -- no kink in their proverbial armor. They're not perfect, of course, but they're so darn solid across the board, it's insane. With no weak link in their line-up, it's really hard to imagine a scenario in which they lose. So far, they've looked like a championship-worthy team, and if they keep playing at such a high level they're bound to, at the very least, reach the finals of the Spring Split.

Opposite them we have the only team that can perhaps match their aggression, mechanical prowess, and sheer in-game IQ: Team SoloMid. After starting off in horrendous fashion, the boys in black and white have corrected course and have looked downright insane over the last two weeks. They didn't "just" win -- their victories were basically statements. And it's also impossible to single anyone out as they're all playing at an incredible level. BrokenBlade has been spectacular, and the same goes for Dardoch -- Team SoloMid's biggest and most volatile catalyst. The jungling veteran has pushed this team over the finish line in many crucial moments and deserves a ton of praise for his versatility and in-game impact. Finally, Biofrost is also having a resurgence as his split-second engages and mind-blowing plays are what enables Team SoloMid more often than not.

Saying who's better than whom at this point is downright impossible. Each team has its own strengths and weaknesses (the latter being basically negligible), and they've done more than enough over the last three weeks to earn our benefit of the doubt. In the end, however, we have to side with Cloud9 on this one. They've been much more consistent and have shown zero hesitation in game-defining moments. They've really done nothing wrong over the last three weeks and, even though Team SoloMid looks incredible as well, the boys in black and blue should be getting the nod in this one.
