Cloud9 vs Fnatic

We are getting into the later stages of Worlds 2018 and we have a western semifinal going down on Sunday: Cloud9 (NA) is facing off against Fnatic (EU), and although I would hope to see a tight hard fought match here, I do not believe that will happen.

Cloud9 comes off a very surprising 3-0 victory over Afreeca Freecs last week. The Korean team was considered to be among the favorites to win the whole tournament, but their first two losses in groups made people change their minds. They somehow ended up turning it around, just to let their fans down again against C9 in the quarterfinals. To C9s credit, they did play very well, but just as Afreeca they have been quite shaky in groups as well, as well in their play-ins.

Fnatic on the other hand has looked dominant, only dropping two games out of 12 played so far, and that has been to IG (another semifinalist), who they ended up getting their revenge on with 2 consecutive wins in the final group day.

Cloud9 can stand up to Fnatic on a good day, but even then they need to do so in at least 3 out of 5 matches, and I just don't see that happening here. It is going to be interesting seeing the mid battles play out between Jensen and Caps, but Broxah has played out of his mind this tournament in the jungle. As long as Bwipo can neutralize Licorice in the top lane, Fnatic should win bot lane against struggling Sneaky and Zeyzal.
