100 Thieves vs Golden Guardians

Next up, we have 100 Thieves vs. Golden Guardians, and, frankly, there's really no other way to phrase it: this simply isn't an enticing clash that's worth your time. Still, it'll surely entertain in more ways than one, seeing how both teams love to skirmish and are prone to throwing caution out the window and trading heavy blows straight from the very get-go.

So in that sense, if you're up for a good old fashioned brawl on the Summoner's Rift, then this match-up will do just fine! The reason why it's relatively uninteresting is because it's inherently one-sided. There's just no way 100 Thieves will ever lose this game — even if they decide to fool around and draft the most dreadful team comp in existence. Now, they might not win with ease — GGS are no pushover, after all — but they're better in every way, shape, and form. They're better on an individual level and as a five-man unit as well. And while there have been many upsets in the LCS lately, it just feels nigh impossible for 100 Thieves to drop this one. Again, this isn't exactly the definition of a "free game" but it's not far off either. When you're up against a team with such pronounced, glaring weaknesses as the Golden Guardians, then it's incredibly easy to prepare a game plan and exploit their biggest flaws whenever an opportunity presents itself.

Furthermore, 100 Thieves are surely motivated beyond reason to get back in the win column after dropping a game to Team SoloMid yesterday. Now, losing in and of itself to another top-tier contender isn't the be-all and end-all, but losing in such one-sided fashion definitely is. To make matters even worse, their draft was horrible in every which way and their execution wasn't much better either. They didn't have anything to work with and it was evident from the very moment they stepped foot on the Summoner's Rift. And, of course, it wasn't a good look. That is especially true given their lofty ambition: winning the LCS. They need to correct course if they intend on actually challenging for the throne because right now, as things stand, they can't really compete with the likes of Cloud9 and Team SoloMid. They might be close in terms of talent and long-term potential, but at the highest levels of play, these nuanced gaps can be a world of difference.

In any case, they're favored to win against the Golden Guardians and there's a very good reason why that's the case. It might not be pretty, but they should definitely be able to get the job done.
