It’s been some time since amateur events like ESL’s Go4LoL and Zeek’s tournaments; a lack of interest due to a low prize pool has always plagued private events. However, it seems like that’s about to change: a new tournament organizer called Arena Online is advertising an amateur tournament series with a $1 million prize pool.

The tournament series will consist of four invitationals and two weekly events for amateurs of any level, with random seeding to ensure as fair an experience as possible. The first event for Arena Online will be the IndieGoGo Inaugural, with a pretty hefty $25,000 prize pool.

Before this event, the company will be using some smaller initial events as a beta phase to ensure that the platform is of the highest possible quality.

“We are using this crowdfund to bring in serious beta gamers, not just bug testers,” Arena Online CEO Alan Hubbard said to DailyDot.com. “We have other groups testing for bugs daily; we need competitors willing to be the first to test our model for incentivized esports.”

Smaller beta tournaments will be played on a daily and weekly basis and pay out in the League of Legends in-game currency, Riot Points. These events should be up and running sometime in November before the company moves on to more serious cash events in 2016.

On top of a highly tested and optimized platform, Arena Online will be unique in the sheer amount of money it’s throwing around. They will be offering $4,000 for the first place team of the IndieGoGo Inaugural; when compared to the tiny cash prizes and Riot Points payouts of Victorious Gaming and Go4LoL, there really is no comparison to be had.

Additionally, Arena Online recently purchased the unsuccessful League of Legends professional team Team Dragon Knight and announced plans to compete in the 2016 spring Challenger Series.
