Betway Review

A few years ago, few gamblers had heard of Betway. This was a big company, and one on the rise, but it was also one that rested in the shadows of gambling giants like Betfair and Bet365. However, the last few years have drastically altered the fortunes of this gambling brand. Thanks to a huge advertising campaign that saw its name linked with West Ham United football club, and plastered on billboards, banners and TV adverts across Europe, Betway is now very much a competitor.

This company gets a lot of flak, but you only need to visit its TrustPilot page to see that the vast majority of customers are happy with the service they have received from this brand. We’ve also had a mostly positive experience, as Betway has a lot to offer. As well as extensive markets on esports, including LoL, SC2 and the recent Blizzard release, Hearthstone, Betway also offers markets on most global sports. There is also a poker room, online casino and bingo games available on the site.

Pros and Cons

  • Wide selection of esports bets
  • Plenty of gambling games
  • Live dealer section
  • Good new member bonuses
  • Great customer service
  • Occasional log-in problems with less popular web browsers
  • Dated slot machines

Betting Options

As well as a long list of esports, mentioned above, you will also find extensive markets on soccer, rugby, golf, snooker, motor racing, extreme sports and more. If there is a professional sport being played anywhere around the world, then you should be able to bet on it through Betway, which is the sign of a good, modern bookmaker.

Their “Vegas” section is a little redundant, but head for the Betway Casino if you want to recreate a virtual Sin City. Betway uses the Microgaming software, which is the preferred choice by fans of slot machines, with games like Mega Moolah, Jurassic Park and Terminator 2 available here. It also has some great blackjack and roulette variations, including Double Exposure Blackjack, which returns one of the lowest house edges you will find.

Some feel that Microgaming lacks the polish of BetSoft or even Playtech, but whilst they do opt for simple games that adopt an “arcade” feel, they are also pioneers in this industry. After all, they were the first ones to offer multiplayer slots, the first to create progressive slots, and they are also working on more new advances.

Also courtesy of Microgaming is the Betway Live Dealer, where you can simulate the casino experience, playing blackjack and roulette against real dealers, on real tables and with real cards.

Customer Service

Poor customer service has let a lot of the big name sites down, and you don’t need to go very far to find customers who have had major issues with global powerhouses like Betfair and Bet365. However, we have had nothing but good experiences with the Betway staff, and whilst that’s just our opinion, it is one that many other users have shared. They are fast, attentive and professional, which is a breath of fresh air in this industry.

Deposits and Withdrawals

Betway accepts most deposit methods, including PayPal and a number of other web wallets. You can use most of these to deposit and to withdraw, but that does not apply to credit cards, pre-paid cards and echecks, all of which are also accepted on the Betway site. The site is very secure, and customers from certain countries, UK included, will have to verify their identity before they make their first withdrawal.

Bonuses and Promotions

As things stand, Betway offer a £30 matched deposit bonus. This changes all of the time but is usually no lower than this. There are also separate new member bonuses available for other areas of the site, with the biggest being on the Betway Casino. As well as these bonuses, there are also a number of promotions, offering everything from bundles of cash to holidays and cars, but you will find these on the Bingo, Casino and Poker sections of the site, and not on the sportsbook.

Betway is a fantastic site, and one that ticks many boxes for esport gamblers and sport gamblers alike. Of course, no site is perfect, and Betway is no exception to that rule. One of the biggest question marks next to Betway’s name is their involvement with the Spin Palace casino, which has wormed its way onto many gambling blacklists. Betway itself is a respected gambling brand, and the Betway site is nothing but trustworthy, but their affiliation with Spin Palace has turned a few customers away. Users of both Safari and Chrome have also reported issues with the Betway site, and whilst we can report that it is far from Safari friendly, we have had no issues using the Chrome browser, nor have we experienced any faults with Firefox, Android and iOS.

Betway has come a long way in the last few years. Not only has it pushed its name out there, but its software, its service and its promotions have also drastically improved in that time. After all, Betway knew that if they were going to compete with the biggest and if they were going to become the best, then they needed to focus as much attention on their product as they did their advertising. As things stand, Betway is not quite the best brand out there. There are a few flaws in this site and the way it operates, and they are also lacking the uniqueness (or the “X Factor”, if you will) that makes some of their competitors so great.

Still, this is a site in a period of transition, and who knows where it will be in a few years.
