Vici Gaming vs Team Secret

For one of our opening matches of the day we have a clash of titans — Vici Gaming vs Team Secret! Both of these teams are considered as the crème de la crème, not only in their regions, but throughout the whole world of competitive Dota as well.

On the one side we have the Chinese giants, Vici Gaming. A team that has shown nothing but absolute dominance since the beginning of the 2019/2020 DPC season. Vici has one of the most fluid rosters in the current Dota 2 scene, and their cohesion and flexibility (not to mention their unrelenting aggression) are the driving forces behind their recent success.

Like most other teams, Vici had some difficulties in adapting to the new Outlanders meta, but once they overcame that initial hurdle, they “clicked” across the board and won the previous Premier tournament with staggering ease.

Their performance at the recent MDL Chengdu Major is also worth mentioning. They fought valiantly every time they stepped foot on stage, and even though they ultimately didn’t win, they at least fought to the best of their ability and made the world take notice.

They’re entering the Leipzig Major with a lot of hype behind their backs, and hopefully they’ll bring their A game much like they did in the recent past.

Opposite them, we have Team Secret. Secret’s resilience is definitely one of their greatest assets. They are aggressive, highly experienced, their team fighting is spectacular, and although they can get a bit overwhelmed, they always manage to pull off a Hail Mary play and find success when their backs are against the wall.

They will now have a chance to show off their versatility and skill against the very best. Will Puppey and MATUMBAMAN be enough? Will they end up pushing Secret over the finish line?

Secret’s last showing wasn’t that impressive as their failure to adapt to the meta heavily affected their play. But that was more than a month ago and they’ve had more than enough time to practice and get back into the thick of things.

We’ve already seen these two teams clash against each other in the lower bracket of the ONE Esport Invitational, where Vici emerged victorious in 2-1 fashion.

Will history repeat itself in the opening match of the Leipzig Major, or will Team Secret get revenge? The odds are certainly in Vici’s favour but seeing how the meta still isn’t set in stone, Team Secret will have a solid enough chance of getting the upset. Either way, top-tier play will not be absent. We simply have to side with Vici on this one, although it can certainly go either way, seeing how Vici are known for being slow starters.
