ELEAGUE Major 2018 Main Qualifier Day 4,

We're getting down to to the wire in my coverage of the ELEAGUE Major 2018 Main Qualifier, We've had our first two teams get eliminated; Flipsid3 and Flash. Press "F" to pay respects. But don't be sad, we are getting ever closer to our top 8 which will then go into the final 16 teams that will duke it out for the Major title. In this match up we're taking a look at two teams with the records of 2-1. Teams Liquid and Vega Squadron.

Liquid:

Liquid unfortunately this event have their coach Zews as a stand in over their newest pickup and IGL Steel from Imortals. Knowing this I was very surprised how well Liquid are actually playing now that Zews can be in more control not only coaching but IGL-ing. His calling and strats are now be executed how he wants them to be and not how Steel wants to run them. I also feel having a stand in allows all members of then team to really band together and face foes with a handicap and it is making them stronger for it.

Maps thus far for liquid have been pretty solid, losing one map to FaZe on Overpass, but then taking a 2-0 on Cobblestone over teams Flipsid3 and Renegades. Though their main maps are Mirage, with a record of 8-9, Inferno at 10-5, Cobblestone at 8-7, Cache at 4-3, Train at 5-2, Overpass at 2-3, and finally Nuke at 0-1.

Vega Squadron:

Vega Squadron have been looking particularly solid this event, previously I had them losing to Renegades and they just so happened to upset them and give me a loss. I should learn to not bet against them, but on that same note, Renegades are a very unreliable team and I believe i've lost every bet I've put either for or against them, so that is the team I will be avoiding from now on.

this event Vega have played on three separate maps and have shown off much diversity. Losing to G2 on Overpass, but also beating the likes of FaZe on Inferno, and Renegades on Mirage. Their best maps include Mirage at 6-4, Inferno at 4-4, Cache at 2-5, Train at 4-1, Overpass at 2-2, Nuke at 0-1 and finally Cobblestone is Vega's perma ban.

Map Pick/Ban:

It is unfortunate for Liquid that Cobblestone will be auto banned by Vega, that being said I believe Liquid will ban out Mirage and Overpass. Vega will ban Cobblestone and Cache. Neither team is afraid to play Mirage, Inferno, or Train. I feel Liquid will try to force Train, as it is a map they are better on than Vega.

Final Thoughts:

This is going to be a close game. If Vega have the tenacity to take out a team like FaZe, they can definitely do it with the like of liquid. This being said, even though Liquid are playing with a stand in Nitro as well as Elige are playing some of the best Counter Strike i've seen them play in a while. On top of that like I explained earlier, With Zews in the game being the IGL and making selfles plays for the good of the team, it's really allowing the other players to play how they like. I'm feeling Liquid on this one.
