Team Liquid vs Luminosity

ECS Season 5 North America,

Finishing off the regular season for ECS Season 5 North America are two teams fighting for a spot in the offline finals. Team Liquid and Luminosity will be going against one another for the singular spot available. Unfortunately for Team Liquid, they have lost almost too many games to even come close to qualifying for the offline finals, while Luminosity has nearly secured themselves a spot. If Team Liquid does win both games being played today in an astounding fashion, then they do have a chance, but it is very slim at that. This still does not deter either team from trying, as Team Liquid will still go for the opportunity or at least use the game to practice strategies. Today in this tip we will be looking at the game being played on Inferno. Let's break down these two teams.

Team Liquid:

Falling off 0-2 to their previous opponents SK Gaming, TACO lead his team as best he could but they ultimately fell to the likes of Stewie and company. Luminosity, however, is a different opponent altogether and I feel Team Liquid will have a better shot at competing against them. Especially on Inferno. Team Liquid has played Inferno nineteen times in the past three months and has won fourteen of those games. Star players Naf and Twitzz hold the best ratings at a 1.23 for Naf and 1.20 for Twitzz, making them some of the best players on Inferno right now.

Luminosity :

Luminosity has shown some strong form lately, beating SK Gaming on Train and Mirage, two of Luminosities own best maps. However, I feel that there Inferno is lacking in terms of overall tactics and skill. Inferno is Luminosities most played map with fourteen total games played in the last three months; only four of those games have been victories. Yel and PKL are the two members of the team that hold the highest rating with a mear 1.01. Just over a 1 rating but still going negative in terms of Kill to Death ratio. Luminosity is becoming a well-rounded team but they are continually struggling on Inferno and will likely still do so today.

Map Pick/Ban :

This is a best of two series, but as I mentioned before, the games will be played individually and we will be focussing on the first map on Inferno. By reading this far it is clear that the map advantage will go in favor of Team Liquid.

Final Thoughts:

My final thoughts of this game between two heavy hitting teams of their respective regions are that, though Luminosity is finding their form after the departure of Chelo and the pick up of Steel, I still find Luminosity struggling to get wins on Inferno despite showing excellent form against other top-tier teams on other maps. Meanwhile, Team Liquid has continually picked up their playstyle with the adaptation of TACO and have shown great communication on a map like Inferno and have the win rate to show it. I feel Team Liquid will be a unit in this game and will take down Luminosity. Medium bet on Team Liquid.
