ECS Season 5 Europe,

More ECS action is going live today, a lot of the online series are going to be played out this and the following few weeks as the ECS League wants to wrap up and get headed out to the offline finals. Today, we have the battle of the French as G2 Esports takes on Team EnVyus. This series will be a best of two but we will be primarily be focussing on the second map, Nuke. Which is a decent map to play on in this series. Let's take a look at each individual team and the star players of them.

G2 ESports:

Mixwell has been an excellent addition to G2 since the departure of Shox due to a wrist injury. Unfortunately, the entire French scene is in shambles right now and no team seems to be happy. G2 have been struggling to find form despite having such talented players. Despite this, G2 Esports still made a playoff run at IEM Sydney, even though they were only filling in for Navi who couldn't make the event and G2 did not prepare at all for the teams attending. G2 can win games on a fluke because of the talent they have and playing on Nuke may give them an advantage. Star AWPer KennyS currently holds a solid 1.23 rating on the map, and if he is on, it almost doesn't matter if the rest of the team shows up.

Team EnVyus :

Speaking of French teams in utter turmoil, Team Envyus have been notable getting worse and worse as time progresses. Since G2 Esports created the French "superteam", and all the hype was about G2, the players of Envyus felt as though they were lesser and undeserving of the title of a tier 1 team, even though the caliber of players on the squad is almost unparalleled. kioshima announced in a tweet that the team just doesn't mesh well and the players are getting along entirely, which could lead to poor results? On Nuke, Happy is the only player of the five-man roster to hold a rating over 1, with a rating of 1.02. Not favorable for the Envyus side.

Map Pick/Ban :

This is a best of two series, but as I mentioned before, the games will be played individually and we will be focussing on the first map on Nuke. Envyus have lost every game on Nuke they have played in the last three months, while G2 Esports have a record of 3-2. The map advantage goes to G2.

Final Thoughts:

Going into this matchup, the clear favorite is G2 Esports. I wish I could give some support to Envyus as they do have some of my all-time favorite players on the team. However, the motivation seems down and the players aren't performing due to mixed feelings about one another. G2 can pull off a victory here and it shouldn't be much of an issue to take down the wallowing team that is Envyus. Medium bet on G2 Esports.
