Shanghai Dragons vs Florida Mayhem

After almost two weeks of the Overwatch League, there are perhaps only two teams that failed to meet any expectations. Not only that but they essentially failed to do much regardless of the map or opponent and are as a result currently winless. Luckily for one of these teams, their bad streak ends tonight.

Shanghai quickly became a laughing stock of the League as they rarely showed anything worthy of praise. Their last loss came at the hands of a very aggressive Houston Outlaws. They couldn't do anything against Jake and LiNkzr, and soon enough they were demolished. They tried everything but regardless of the comp/strategy they failed to mount an offensive. As the casters highlighted - only Shanghai's tanks die so quickly and so often, and only their supports miss-use their ultimates this badly.

In the end, it's no one's fault specifically, but rather the over-arching problems that have plagued this team from the very beginning.

They have insane hero pool issues, with their support lineup not being up to the meta and perhaps even more importantly Diya and Undead not being skilled at projectile heroes like Genji. If that wasn't enough, the organization was hit with corruption accusations and there are multiple rumors of the players being mistreated.

As for Florida Mayhem, things are a bit different. They're not a bad team by any stretch of the imagination but they don't play as well as people expected. That, in addition to a very tough schedule somewhat excuses their record so far.

Many were surprised to see them take a map off of London, and they even made things really competitive against Seoul Dynasty a couple of days ago. They displayed great communication and cohesion on Lunar Horizon on both attack and defense. They were incredibly close to win as well, especially on Lunar and Eichenwalde but Seoul always made the necessary clutch play in order to secure the win.

To their credit, Florida improved after every single loss. It's understandable that they can't compete with the likes of London or Seoul. This will be their first match ever since the season began where they will have the opportunity to showcase their improvement and perhaps gain some much needed confidence and momentum.

While they might not play the highest level of Overwatch, at least TviQ and Logix have standout moments and are capable of carrying the team to heights that Shanghai can only dream of at the moment.
