North vs Vega Squadron

CS Summit 2 ,

CS Summit is back! This was one of my absolutely favorite events to watch last year and I will be tuning in this year to see all the stories, the memes, and the general good times to be had by these professional players for a weekend in beautiful sunny Los Angeles. SK and Torqued are already playing but I think we all know the winner of that Best of three. So we will be looking at a game with some better odds, the New North squad, vs Vega Squadron. Should be an interesting game.

North :

Over this past week so many trades came in for so many different teams, North was one of these teams, dropping two players: Konfig and CanjunB for new comers Mertz and Kjaerbye. We'll soon find out how effective this roster can be, but the addition of Merts comes from North's academy team, and Kjaerbye comes from Astralis where he was one of the most profound players in the lineup. No doubt he will help North have stability and do great things.

Norths's maps are as followed; Overpass is 6-3, Train is 2-4, Mirage is 0-4, Cobblestone is 2-3, Inferno is 3-1, Nuke is 1-0 and Cache is the perma ban.

Vega Squadron :

Vega Squadron is now officiallly the old standing roster now that Virtus Pro have benched TaZ. Though Vega have been together a long time, I do agree with Thoorin on this matter in the fact of what made Virtus Pro great compared to Vega Squadron, is that Virtus Pro actually had great success with their line up over an abundance of years, where as Vega Squadron has yet to place anywhere near the top in bigger events. I wish Vega to be like Virtus Pro, and it starts here for them to prove it to me at this event.

Vega Squadron's maps are as followed; Mirage is 7-6, Inferno is 5-3, Cache is 3-4, Train is 4-2, Overpass is 3-3, and both maps Nuke and Cobblestone have not been played on in recent form.

Map Pick/Ban :

Regarding the lack of play from Nuke and Cobblestone from Vega, we're going to assume they do not like those maps and will not want to play them. Likewise from North, I don't think we will get to see Cache today. Mirage is also another ban to come in from North seeing as they have a terrible record and Vega are off the charts on that maps. The three maps to be played in this Best of Three series will likely be Inferno, Train, and Overpass.

Final Thoughts:

My finaly thoughts of this match up are that despite Vega Squadron being together for so long, they have had to have success in their own way. Vega is a team that likes to play off their opponent and do strats that confuse and manipulate. The only problem is, when that tactic doesn't work and they get run over, their is little they can show for it. Since this North roster is 2/5ths new, I doubt Vega would have any time to prep for their style of play before this event and I see North taking this series in stride. Medium on North.
