Los Angeles Gladiators vs Florida Mayhem

For the last match of the day we have a fight between the LA Gladiators and the Florida Mayhem.

The Gladiators had a pretty underwhelming showing last week. They started off incredibly strong, nearly taking down the Valiant with relative ease. They were dominant from the very get go on Eichenwalde where Surefour leads all players in hero damage per 10min at a staggering 11k. With every mistake the Valiant made, Gladiators responded ten fold. They're known for their defense, but they were nothing less dominant on attack as well. After Eichenwalde they continued strong on Lunar Horizon Colony as well, with a quad tank setup followed by Moira and Lucio but they also played with a little twist - taking the right path and thus surprising the Valiant on attack. Things went awry soon afterwards on Ilios, Dorado and Lijiang Tower however as the Gladiators were too stubborn to swap heroes and strategies but also didn't have an answer for Silkthread who came in for Agilities.

Even in their loss they displayed admirable skill and synergy so it was truly mindboggling to see them stumble and fall so much against the Houston Outlaws. They simply couldn't mount an offensive, Hydration was a complete non-factor starting with Numbani where he quickly had to swap heroes as nothing really went according to plan. The Gladiators also went for multiple confusing plays which they're known for, but it never goes their way as the element of surprise simply isn't enough against the best teams in the world. Other than a couple of standout moments from Biggoose and Shaz, they really did nothing.

As for Florida, they did even worse. After getting annihilated by the Houston Outlaws on Friday, they were outclassed by Valiant, even though they managed to win Dorado at the very end. (the Valiant died only 4 times on Eichenwalde whereas Florida had 40 deaths) Other than a couple of exceptional Tviq plays on Pharah, they simply couldn't do much. They did manage to outclass the Valiant in the communication department on Dorado however, so it's not all grim for the former Misfits squad going forwards.

Even though both teams showed improvement over the last week or two, it hasn't been enough to warrant any hype or confidence from a betting perspective. With that in mind, we're going with the favorites here and that's the Gladiators. They exhibited a lot more potential, more synergy and took down far better opponents than the Florida Mayhem who still only have just a single win against the Shanghai Dragons.
