ELEAGUE Major 2018 Group Stage,

Here we go again! The group stages of the ELEAGUE Major 2018! Let's skip the antics in this preview as i'm sure we're all aware this is a Major and these group stages are not going to be taken likely and I for one am hyped. I'm even more hyped when I get to see ex-teammates face off against one another. In this situation between teams Faze and Fnatic, Olofmiester is the player to watch.

Faze Clan :

Their is something about Faze facing ex-teams that particularly tickles my fancy. It is this strange bond of brotherhood that Faze have created that pulls the very best out of every one of them when facing their respecting ex-teams. Astralis, Fnatic, Mousesports, and Navi are all teams that have fallen short of beating Faze because of this tenacity. I want to say this will be the same result and I can see Faze bringing their A-game against the newer Fnatic lineup.

Faze's map pool is growing more positive at a staggering rate. Mirage sits up top with a record of 13-6, Inferno follows with 9-5, then Train at 8-5, Overpass at 10-3, Cache at 5-2, Cobblestone at 0-3, and Nuke at 0-2.

Fnatic :

Fnatic is a team that haven't been in the spotlight in a long time, their era was ended after the Brazillians took over the world and have been sitting on that number one pedestal for a little over a year and a half now. Which a year in internet time is like a decade in real time. They've been on a slow climb back after the GODSENT fiasco as well. Their new pick ups Lekro and Golden seem promising as they have helped Fnatic retain that onec tried and true method that brought them to that once successful time.

Maps for Fnatic are as followed; Mirage at 13-5, Inferno at 7-4, Train at 7-4, Cobblestone at 5-1, Overpass at 2-3, Cache at 2-1, and Nuke is the perma ban.

Map Pick/Ban :

Seeing as this is a best of one we're going to widdle it down to one map. Nuke is a perma ban so that's out, and Cobblestone is basically a perma ban for Faze as they have been unsuccessful on it and Fnatic has had success on it. Fnatic will likely ban Overpass because it follows the same methodology as Faze with Cobblestone. Cache is the next ban because the remaining 3 maps are more prominent for both sides. If Karrigan decides to make things interesting and really play off of Fnatics map choice, I could see a possible Inferno match up being played, because playing on Mirage into Fnatics best map won't be a good choice for the Faze squad.

Final Thoughts:

Understanding the roles of each team and what Faze has acquired with Olofmeister and what Fnatic lost when he left is a huge factor in this match up. I would say that Fnatic have bounced back quite well after losing his, but their is no doubt that when he left, things fell apart. And with Faze actually looking to be the favorites of this entire event, I would say these are good odds for a medium bet on Faze.
