ELEAGUE Major 2018 Main Qualifier Day 2,

It's day number 2 at the ELEAGUE Major 2018 Main Qualifier and boy was that first day something. A lot of very close games and a few upsets to say the least, in fact both of the teams playing today held up against some of the top teams in the world. They now face each other head to head for another chance to show they have what it takes to make it onto the main stage.

Flash Gaming:

Flash Gaming showed up yesterday and nearly took Inferno off of the French "Superteam" G2. Starting off insanely strong taking an early 5-0 lead to ultimately end the half of their T-side 9-6. Flash then proceeded to win the pistol and the round following. G2 then woke up and took 10 rounds in a row to bring the game back into their favor and win. Flash was very impressive winning both T and CT pistol rounds against pistol round gods; Shox and NBK.

Infenro is Flash's most played map at a record of 9-9. Though they have only played on Inferno this event, they had a very strong showing and I expect them to continue this way with their other maps. Cache is the next best with a record of 8-6, Mirage sits at 4-8, Cobblestone at 4-6, Overpass sits positively at 5-1, and Train is also positive at 3-1.

Quantum Bellator Fire:

Quantum Bellator Fire, what a mouthful that is. It made my day watching live and having the casters attempt to make the name shorter. Going up against Na'vi in their first matchup of this qualifier I feel they could've actually taken the map had S1mple not dropped 29 kills over the course of 24 rounds. QBF can actually compete with the other teams around them, had S1mple not gone off like he did and pretty much won the map for Na'vi, QBF might've taken down Zuez and company.

QBF's most played map is Inferno, the same as Flash Gaming. Going in order from most to least played following Inferno is Mirage at 4-6, Cache at 0-7, Cobblestone at 3-3, Train at 4-1, Nuke at 2-1 and Overpass at 1-0.

Map Pick/Ban:

Based off of yesterday's match ups and the fact that both teams number one most played map is Inferno, I expect nothing else but for both teams to ban accordingly down til we reach Inferno as our final map. It's sad to see the same map being played by these teams as I'd like to see some sort of a diverse map pool, but neither team will ban out their favored map.

Final Thoughts:

Final thoughts on these two teams and the major they have in front of them, is that I am glad Valve decided to open the Major up to 8 more teams. Though we see how much of a skill gap their really is between tier 5 teams such as these two and more tier 1 teams like the ones they faced, you can begin to see that a lot of different teams from different regions can compete on a global scale. I doubt either of these teams will make it out of this qualifier stage, but choosing between the two, I see Flash taking it over QBF. GLHF
