ESL One Belo Horizonte 2018,

Here we are, the grand finals of ESL One Belo Horizonte! Unfortunately, the favorites of SK Gaming had to be eliminated, and so we have the two mixed European teams taking to the stage yet again for another wonderous best of FIVE games. This is going to be an exciting match with two very talented teams. Even with each team having a stand-in currently, this just means that the real gritty Counter-Strike will come out and we're going to be viewers to some unorthodox type gameplay. I hope this match-up goes all five maps and we can really take home some awesome highlights. But, let's break it down and see who we think will take home the victory.

FaZe Clan :

Undoubtedly the favorite to win this event. No other team except Mousesports and Liquid even came close to the skill level that FaZe Clan posses. Making quick work of every team in the event thus far and only dropping one map to team Liquid in the semi-final game, Faze are marching there was onto the grand-final stage with the wind at their backs. Taking a look at the diverse map pool that FaZe Clan has already displayed this event, playing five of the available seven maps before getting to this best of five final shows that Faze Clan is not scared to take the fight to their opponents and beat them on their own map picks.

Faze Clan's map pool looks like this; Mirage is 14-6, Cache is 12-4, Inferno is 9-5, Overpass is 7-7, Train is 4-3, Nuke is 3-3 and Dust 2 is 2-1

Mousesports :

In the event thus far Mousesports have amazing efforts to create a nice environment for there legendary stand-in; N0thing. Not dropping a single map against NTC, SK Gaming, or Team Liquid. They have truly shown that the core of Mousesports cannot be shaken and that even though a key-role player like Oscar can be truly impactful if he was at this event. N0thing has done a great job so far and I feel he will get many professional offers after this event is all said and done, but this is the event Mousesports needed in order to refocus come the next large international LAN.

Mousesports's map pool looks like this; Mirage is 16-8, Inferno is 11-6, Train is 12-5, Nuke is 7-3, Overpass is 3-3, Cache is 3-2 and Dust 2 is 3-2.

Map Pick/Ban :

This is a best of five series, each team will ban one map, and alternate picks on the remaining five. This pick and ban will be a little more complex. The two maps to be banned will likely be Nuke and Cache. These are the only two maps where it is strong for one team and not the other, the rest is played often for each team. However, many would believe Mousesports have the upper advantage because of the map pool not realizing that FaZe Clan has beaten them eleven out of sixteen total maps played. The only map that Mousesports have beaten FaZe Clan on more than once is Inferno, which has been played four times and each team has two wins.

Final Thoughts:

When you break down the teams, the storylines, and the stand-ins, FaZe Clan just has a better overall squad and chance to win this event. Being a best of five series Faze Clan have some wiggle room to lose a map or even two. However, FaZe Clan has proved time and time again that they are the dominant mixed European squad and I feel they will take the series 3-1. Medium bet on FaZe Clan.
