FaZe Clan vs Fnatic

IEM Katowice 2018 day 3 ,

After an unfortunanate series of events, G2 esports ended up losing out to Fnatic and drops to the elimination bracket of the event. Since Fnatic won and moved on, they will now face up against the real super team of this generation; Faze Clan. Faze to me right now is one of the most consistent teams on LAN and has been doing rather well despite them having difficulties when they first formed their roster. They have made quick work of the other competition and now they have to fight Fnatic is a best of three series for the playoffs of IEM Katowice. Let's dissect these two teams and figure out who will come out on top.

Faze Clan :

As I stated in the opening paragraph, Faze Clan to me, have been the most consistant team on LAN in all of 2018. Though we are only two months into this year, two months is a long time for Counter Strike and their consistancey is unmatched. Even though Faze lost the Major to Cloud9, Cloud9 then lost the next event; CS_Summit, to Team Liquid. Team Liquid then lost out to Mousesports during the Starseries i-League, who then went onto to win Starseries i-Legaue. It's been a mess of winners and losers but Faze has finished in the top 6 of their last 10 LAN events.

Faze Clan's maps are as followed ; Mirage is 13-3, Inferno is 8-6, Overpass is 8-4, Train is 5-3, Cache is 7-0, Nuke is 1-2, and Train is the perma ban.

Fnatic :

Fnatic did a wonderful job yesterday against G2. I cannot take away the play style and the mid round calls that ultimately lead Fnatic to victory over KennyS and company. Though Fnatic still have a long way to go until I see them as "top tier" I feel all of the veterans of the team; JW, Krimz, and Flusha, have all grown and matured into their own individual skill and have come back to the scene after their little mix up a few months back to be an even stronger core than what once was.

Fnatics's maps are as followed ; Inferno is 7-5, Mirage is 6-4, Cobblestone is 6-2, Overpass is 1-6, Train is 3-1, Cache is 1-3, and Nuke is the perma ban.

Map Pick/Ban :

This series is a best of three and with that being said we will see two bans from each team, one pick from each team, and a decider map left over. Going ahead with Faze Clan, they will ban out Train and will want to take away Inferno from Fnatic. Fnatic will answer back with a ban of Nuke and Cache. The remaining maps will be Overpass, Cobblestone and Mirage.

Final Thoughts:

In these final thoughts I look at the progress Fnatic have made and their upset over G2 yesterday has made me think somewhat different of them. However in this match up, going up against the most consistent and best team in the world, I will say that Faze Clan will win this match up outright and will have little to no issues dealing with the likes of Fnatic. Look to Olofmiester this game to see if he can snap the streak of performing poorly against old teammates. Medium bet on Faze Clan.
