ESEA MDL Season 27 Europe ,

A prediction for the ESEA MDL Season 27 for North America would not be complete unless I did one for the European scene too. So we will be diving into the European scene for some online action with teams Gambit and Envyus Academy. Each of these teams are in pretty decent shape in terms of overall ranking compared to the 25 other teams also competing to the be the best online team in all of Europe. Without further introduction, let's take a deeper look at each squad and see where this prediction will take us.

Gambit :

In recent form Gambit was eliminated after three matches at the IEM Katowice event in Poland. Where they won against Tyloo, but ultimately fell in the double elimination event to teams SK Gaming and Liquid. Two very good opponents who've showed great prescience in recent form. Gambit have a lot of work to do if they want to be apart of the top 10 teams in the world, like they once were following their Major win at the Krakow Major back in 2017. For now Gambit will make their way through the lower ranks and soon reach their height of play once more.

Gambit's maps are as followed ; Train is 6-7, Overpass is 8-5, Mirage is 6-5, Inferno is 5-3, Cache is 5-2, Nuke is 3-2, and Cobblestone is 1-2

Envyus Academy :

Academy teams are in my opinion, way ahead of their time. League of Legends squads are doing the same thing, where they have two complete rosters that compete at the same time under the same organization just with the tagline "Academy" after. Envyus Academy is not exception. However, it's usually a good practice when you have both a main team that does well and then an Academy team that is rather decent. for Envyus, both main and academy teams are not of the highest caliber. I see Envyus Academy struggling to find their feet and often panic when it comes to stressful situations and when facing higher tier opponents, much like they will today.

Envyus Academy's maps are as followed ; Inferno is 7-3, Cobblestone is 4-3, Mirage is 4-2, Cache is 1-3, Nuke is 4-0, Train is 1-2, and Overpass is the prema ban.

Map Pick/Ban :

This is a best of one series and with that being said we will see six bans and one decider. Gambit will want to go after the best three maps for Envyus Academy and vice versa, Gambit will ban out Inferno, Cobblestone, and Mirage. Envyus Academy will ban out Train, Overpass, and Cache. Leaving Nuke as the decider.

Final Thoughts:

As I mentioned in the team overview of Envyus Academy, most academy teams have a hard time dealing with more high level opponents like Gambit. This will be an interesting game to watch as I predict the map will fall on Nuke, which is not a typical map that is played now a days. So if you're in the mood for an interesting game, but also want to want Gambit have some fun against a lower tier Academy team, this will be the game to watch. Medium bet on Gambit.
